Can anyone tell me if they have had any success with notch therapy.

Can anyone define what it is and how it works ?

Many thanks

From the research I read, the idea is to listen to notched sounds on a regular basis - a couple of hours a day. I started using a notched music player (tinnitus notched tunes) a few weeks ago (actually I need to start over as I lost the music on my phone). It's just a home experiment, but ideally needs to be tuned correctly. I'm usually sceptical, but it's one of the few treatments that seems logical, in my opinion.

I'm no expert but as I (loosely) understand it, the idea is to identify the frequency of your tinnitus and omit that frequency by a few decibels from the sound you listen to. This trains to the brain to focus on the frequency being played and not the frequency of your tinnitus.... (I'm happy to stand corrected). It's doesn't claim to cure tinnitus, but reduce the loudness.

I'm (always) sceptical, but as i usually read and put my headphones to listen to music for a couple of hours every morning (after I wake up early hours), I decided I'd give it a go. I've not been using it long enough to say I've noticed effects - it would be difficult to say either way. As I said I need to start over anyway. It was going well, or at least I didn't notice any negative effects.

Hi dave

Many thanks for you reply !

I am not expecting any magical solutions but anything that has a positive effect is worth a try.
