EMDR : Hello ... has anyone out there tried EMDR... - Tinnitus UK
EMDR
My colleague has, with encouraging outcome. I Will start it next week.
Hi Ivan .. I don’t know much about it myself ... I wasn’t going to give it a try as I have tried so many things. When you give it a try can you please let me know how you go. I have pretty bad tinnitus and now have a cochlear implant so it may not work for me. Good luck though !
hi I have been enquiring even with BTA but can't find any Venus I would be much obliged if anybody has any information thanks
Yes I have heard if it. It has been shown for being useful for People with PTSD. I have also thought of giving it a try.
Excuse my ignorance but what is EMDR? I know I can google it but I find it better if people can state what EMDR means then refer to it as EMDR later if continuing to discuss it in a question or reply. Just saying!
Hello HS,
From the NHS' PTSD treatments page:
"Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a relatively new treatment that's been found to reduce the symptoms of PTSD.
It involves making side-to-side eye movements, usually by following the movement of your therapist's finger, while recalling the traumatic incident.
Other methods may include the therapist tapping their finger or playing a tone.
It's not clear exactly how EMDR works, but it may help you change the negative way you think about a traumatic experience".
We wrote about a recent study focused on tinnitus, back in March 2019 -

Hope this helps.
