I think they should change name of ENT dept to NT dept because they don’t help you with ear problems

My ent doctor said you have to live with it ,not trying to find out we’re it come from neck ,ears , jaw bone etc , just that

Same with the ENTs I went to. No attempt at all to try and find a cause for the tinnitus. And no attempt to treat it. They just hand out an article that suggests that tinnitus is caused by migraine headaches, even though I've never had a migraine headache, nor any headache at all.

Thank you. It’s not just me then that feels that way. Didn’t even want to hear my ‘story’ when I went to see the specialist. Just referred me for an MRI and when I went back to see him for the results he said it’s not cancer so here’s a slip of paper with the website address of the British Tinnitus Association on it. Byeeee. We are all left without any hope as always from so called carers.

I can totally get where you are coming from. The consultant I saw was less helpful than the nurse practitioner! I have one sided tinnitus - and it's like white noise along with one sided deafness - was told it wasn't an ENT problem after an MRI didn't show anything. Now waiting neurology appointment. What I can say though - and I didn't find this out until I saw my GP - is that they only scan a tiny area around your ears and nowhere else in your brain when you have these issues. I have a great GP - he sent me for a full scan to rule out anything that may have been missed.

omg! same here!! i went to my ent appointment less than 2 weeks ago, told him my story, including about the pain i had in my sinuses and nose etc, he wasnt 1 bit interested in that - just my ears. and basically said, give it another 6 months, and itls like moving house, you buy a house next to a train line and you notice the trains going past, in time, you get used to it, shoved the BTA leaflet in my hand, along with (im pretty certain he said this, my husband thinks so too) that he'll refer me to get an MRI, still waiting for a letter confirming though. no idea what my next step is to do
