Does it get better?

I’m 16 and have experienced tinnitus ever sinse I remember but I never had a problem or noticed much until I found out not everyone had it Which was what i though and now knowing that I notice it all the time (if I focus on it, and not so much when there’s other noice around) and it’s very very loud when it’s quite and at night, and I’m finding it hard to not focus on it all the time and it’s making me upset and I think it will just get worse, any suggestions to block it out and will it get better if I look after my hearing ? Would really appreciate responses.

Hello B, If I were you I would speak to your parents or a responsible adult that you trust and then make an appointment to see your GP to discuss it. Rather than worrying about it yourself some professional help and advice will be better for you and help put your mind at ease.

You will always get good advice from this site.

Take care,C

Thank you so much. I literally just now was talking to my dad about it who also has it. He is booking me into the doctors and has also given me earplugs for when I go to a loud party to wear to prevent it getting worse. Thank you for your help :)

Glad to hear you have good support.

Protecting your ears is very important where loud music is concerned. You will find plenty of advice about it if you browse through this site 👍

Best advice I can give to you is talk to either your parents or a person you trust about how your tinnitus is affecting you cause getting upset or stressed makes it worse but also put an appointment with your doctor who should be able to get you the help you need

hi, what a shame so young to have tinnitus, i speak my mind and say it has it is , i believe it wont get better ,trying to accept it and live with it is best advice i can give ,trying to find a cure can make you stressful no harm in looking but dont beat your self up it only get you down , some one might come along with some kind of help , if you know a support group local they will listen and try advice you , your local doctor will help and even point you in the right direction , like earing aids with white noise , be for you knew not every one has it you got bye , i wish you well and if you come across anything that might help that be great .
