I have had a recent worsening of my T, but I've also developed a jaw alignment problem, it seems probably caused by my tooth-grinding habit. Reading around, it seems the auditory nerves run very close to the jaw joint and become involved.
Has anyone had experience of T being linked to jaw problems?

Hi , I also have jaw problems due to grinding my teeth. I have Tinnitus in both ears which I can hear in my head. My dentist gave me a mouth guard to stop me grinding as I was wearing my teeth down. I don't know if they are related to each other as I get vertigo too sometimes. Over time my tinnitus has become a little quieter so although it is always there I can cope with it. I was diagnosed with Menieres 4 years ago but now they are not sure that it is the case because I rarely have vertigo these days. I was prescribed Betahistine and I think it has helped
Hi Gezzy... thanks for the reply. In my case, it seems I mainly grind my teeth while asleep, is this the same with you? In fact, the jaw problem first occurred during the night, I woke up suddenly with a sensation of misaligned teeth - I often joke it feels like I have been given someone else's teeth. It's weird... although it does come and go, it can make chewing uncomfortable.
Your mention of vertigo is also interesting, I get the same transient dizziness occasionally, I just put that down to age, but maybe I'll mention it to the doc next time I go.
Yes I grind my teeth at night. I always wake up with a headache .I have a very clicky jaw. I have an overbite anyway but I am not getting braces at my age now . I hope you get some help soon. I find it helps to write everything down as we can easily forget when we get to the docs or dentist
Ha... yes, I agree with that; the trouble is if I went to the doc with a list it would be two pages long. One of the results of not being 21 anymore, I fear !
Yes i too have developed tmj disorder since 1 year ago and my normal tinnitus has gone worse. I hear it everwhere now after loud sound exposure. My tinnitus when i grind goes up and down in volume its super annoying and frustrating. I dont know who can fix this as i cant even eat in peace.

Nag at yr dentist to send you to the special unit for your tmjd
I have been told i now need open jaw surgery but surprise surprise the drs reply was
It is to expensive and i am to old, the have offered me Botox but he said my left side of my face will droop like i have had a stroke i said thanks but no thanks.
Crumbs... poor you, sounds like you really got the short straw, it's me that should feel bad for you, not the other way round ! My problems are nowhere near as bad.
I hope you eventually find some relief from all of this. Keep at them - maybe get a second opinion, you are entitled to one - and you might get the surgery which, by the sound of it, you really need.
I have had the 2nd opinion and a 3rd lol no way will the do op, I have another check up end April i have to let them know about he Botox thanks but no thanks, Maybe if i had been seen years ago it wouldn't have got as bad as it is x I just want to bite an apple again not to much to ask lol..... Pointless stressing about it makes it worse but as a friend of mine says Onward and upwards .... I would have a word with yr dentist better to nip it in the bud early... Enjoy yr weekend.....
