Hi Gary, Dave and Glynis in particular were the forum members who made me realise that you can still have a life with T. And it is true! Ps my builder bloke partner has had it for 30+ years because he didn't wear ear defenders. Although we've been together for 10 years he didn't tell me until I got my T! And , yes, sometimes it is too loud for him. It does settle over time Love, Angela xx

12-13 years due to Menieres....lots of love glynis

Still smiling 😊

Hi, I am from Canada. Funny I stumbled onto this forum. I have had T for 3 years. I am usually positive and know this is the only way to have control but today is bad I am crying writing this. My T is much better. It was torture when I first got it. I woke up in the middle of the night with this high pitched horrific noise in both ears. Intolerable noise. My story is like the rest of you. Anti-depressants ( terrible depression- 6 months) and then got high blood pressure due to the anxiety . The noise now sounds like a whistle and I have the noise in both ears and 2 different sounds. Lucky me. My right ear is the one that is the loudest now. I am so much better than I was but the sound never goes away .I just get so fed up some days. It is mental torture. I just needed to vent . Nobody can understand what we go through . Namaste xx

Hi, have you ever tried white noise maskers? They pipe a gentle neutral hissssss into your ears, the volume can be altered according to severity, although they aren't meant to drown out T, just give your brain a distraction from it. The NHS provide them in the U.K., they are great and a lifesaver on bad days, although I tend to try hard to limit my use until I have a spike. Good luck. Steve

Hi tks for the reply. I used acoustic therapy for 6 mo. They match the sound of your T with background music and u listen to this 3x a day. It really helped me. Now I do not need this cause it has become lower and would aggravate the T. But u know it is always there and sometimes I forget . U have to keep busy and distracted. I just wish I could hear the SOUNDS OF SILENCE (simon and garfunckel) Maybe 1 day. I actually talk to my brain in the morn and meditate to tell it and send positive energy to heal itself. I visualize myself without T. I have to believe this will work NAMASTE

Hi Crawford, that silent scream picture is the one I saw in my mind when I first had the T. I think it should be used by BTA to portray how we sufferers feel! Angela xx

Hi Crawford, I don't know about why that picture was painted. I believe that Vincent Van Gogh had T and that is why he cut off his ear. (I heard about that on Radio4). Angela xx

Hi tks for the reply. I have never known anyone who has had T. In all my years and being a nurse never heard of this. But here it is and it does exist. My son plays drums and I make sure he protects his ears but they do not know. Do they!!!!!!!!! Never was exposed to loud sounds. I have minimal hearing loss like 10% but u know I am 66 so whatever. I wish I could have had someone to talk to when I first got T. I thought I was going to go crazy. It was intolerable . Tks.

I love the Secret Scream picture and bet it was done with tinnitus in mind.....Lots of love glynis
