It's been a long time, but in retrospect I hope they no longer prescribe required calcium and iron for pregnant moms without the proper balancing vitamins and minerals. I just remember being unbelievably constipated during my 4 pregnancies and did not realize until I read Adele Davis how bad it was to take those supplements alone. The best to you.

i have to take folic acid as a norm coz my folate levels were low before i became preg, also on omeprazole for reflux. i also have anxiety issues but trying to cope without taking any pills as its prozac they say is safest n i dont want a baby hooked on it. things stressful financially which in turn makes anxiety worse which makes tummy worse, stuck in vicious circle :(

I very much sympathise with you! I am in a very similar situation, in my first pregnancy (2 years ago) the IBS was more or less under control and except dairy, onions, beans etc.. not much made me feel unwell so I enjoyed eating variety of foods. My IBS got much worse last year when my mum was rushed to hospital with several blood clots in her veins (she's survived it) and since then whatever I eat makes me feel really unwell. IBS used to come and go but now I have had it constantly for over a year.I tried to take some foods out but it does not make much difference. I have been to doctors with this so many times that I have lost the count and after doing a variety of blood tests they have now given up. Relaxing is difficult with a 20month year old running around and money problems (just moved house and found out that the water is leaking through the chimney into the house, estimate repair cost about a grand or so). I know I must eat but the thought of how I am going to feel afterwards is putting me of eating generally. A vicious circle as you say. Good luck with your pregnancy, hope it all goes well! :)
