Hi, I’m trying an app called Nerva! I’m on week 2 session 3. And I’m seeing a difference. They recommend you do 6 weeks and then you start again if need be? Try it. I think it works, I had the most horrible flare since I got sick in October with gastroenteritis, And now I’m trying to get my IBS back in control. Goodluck, just be consistent.☺️

Never tried but it was suggested by my gastroenterologist lately for handling the day to day consequences of having IBS because she doesn't have a clue whats really going on in my body and they can't test/examine you forever unfortunately. I remember that in the past, when I practiced hatha yoga for a while, I noticed some positve results, maybe hypnotherapy has the same effect. But in my opinion it doesn't treat the underlying cause. I'm more a person who's looking for the 'holy grail' for curing my IBS C symptoms (who isn't) so more physically, biologically oriented. I know that in my particular situation it's microbiome (bacteria or other organisms in the gastrointestinal tract) related but just can't figure out how to heal it, if that's even possible. Systemic antibiotics worked great in the past but as soon as they vanished from my body all symptoms reappeared.

Do the breathing exercises Nerva teaches you! (twice a day for 5 minutes each time). I've still got IBS but almost no cramps, little excessive bloating, no constipation and less diarrhea (I drink coffee). I'm still a little nervous about trying forbidden foods, but I'm doing so much better!

Hi ,I’ve done the Nerva gut directed hypnotherapy, which I found relaxing but , not much else , I’ve also done another online hypnotherapy course , a while ago & didn’t find that terribly productive.

I’ve had a couple of Zoom sessions with a hypnotherapist, which both relaxed me & sent me to sleep , but I didn’t carry on as I started CBT .

I had thought about trying Professor Whorwell’s gut directed hypnotherapy, but it’s pretty pricey , so I’m still thinking 🤔

It is supposed to have good results though

I had hypnotherapy for my stress related IBS and it took about 8 sessions to stop the pain that I was experiencing, it worked really for me although it can take some time, it depends if there underlying stress factors that have to be dealt with. I'd recommend sticking with it as it really can help.

I did try it and I've got to say it's very helpful. It helped me deal with anxiety greatly & reduced other symptoms as well. But you need to be consistent with your sessions as another friend of mine gave up after a few & couldn't really benefit from the treatment. For me, I've been undergoing hypnotherapy from CityHypno (cityhypno.co.uk/) for a couple months now & I can see a noticeable difference in my lifestyle.
