How normal is it to have two consistencies in the same stool - eg start with #2 on Bristol scale and then change to #4?

Mine are pretty much always like this but I don't know how common it is.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, with IBD and IBS there is no "normal". However you asked if it was common, which is a much better and clearer way of putting the question, and the answer is yes, it is common, as far as I am aware.

Yes I have this all the time. Sometimes starts at one then four and finishes five or six.
