Acesulfame k

Hi all can Acesulfame k cause diarrhea ? Just started drinking peach sparkling water what contains this ingredient ever since not been off the toilet

Hi CJC,

Diarrhoea is a known side effect for some artificial sweeteners such as Acesulfame k and sucralose in soft drinks. It is dose dependant though, so more likely to happen if you are drinking a lot of your soft drink. You might be OK with small amounts.

Artificial sweeteners are not absorbed by the gut, so pass through unchanged. It may be this that causes the irritation and subsequent diarrhoea.

Thankyou I am finding triggers at the moment I know to avoid the substance from now on
