Yes I did years ago long before IBS was ever diagnosed with me. It just came back citing intolerance to cow's milk. I didn't take it seriously then. In terms of my now diagnosed lactose (the sugar element in milk) their test prob not defining enough. I am currently trying to get NHS to test me for dairy, glucose, fructose and wheat. And if they can't/won't do them they have to refer me to somewhere even if I have to pay.

I have just been to the doctors and found you can have these tests on the NHS so push for it don't be put off good luck.

I would save your money as there is no reliable way to test for food intolerance via a blood test, this can only be done via an elimination diet. Blood test are reliable for allergies which you can have done for free on the NHS. See the Allergy UK website. I would recommend the allergy hospital in Sydney as the best source of information on food intolerance. sswahs.nsw.gov.au/rpa/aller...

After 20 years of suffering every day with IBS I finally have the answers! I'm sensitive to natural biochemicals in foods which was causing severe bloating and bowel problems. I hope that helps.

Hi, how did you find this out, its sounds very specific?

It's mentioned in the Shepherd & Gibson Fodmap book briefly as one of the suggestions if the Fodmap diet isn't working. It was partially working for me but I thought I'd look into the Failsfae diet. It is very strict and difficult to get right without a lot of research. I'm waiting for the official handbook from Australia but it's definitely made a difference so far. I've just been cutting things out gradually and learning something new everyday from the website fedup.com.au

Hi, yes a few years ago I did the York test, but the result was not satisfactory as it stated that I was intolerant to cashew nuts only. I have found that many foods cause my IBS by elimination. Hope this helps your decision.

Yes after reading a few of these replies I have decided not to go ahead with it.The doctors have just told me I can have a fructose and lactose test on the NHS and I'm going on the Fodmap diet next week so thank you for your help
