Yes I was diagnosed with active TB 2 months ago I’m on medication for 1 year to 18 months , must at it I thought TB was thing of the past

They have ran out of money and not sure if HealthUnlocked forum will be able to stay live but There will no longer be TB Alert, and they are winding down and will close end of November x

That is really awful. Apart from the people with TB they support, researchers go to them for input. TB numbers have increased in England.

Yes and unfortunately we are still having lots of problems with are GPs and not recognising TB cough or doing anything about it!

Hello again,

I am sorry to have been absent for so long. As you are aware, things have been very difficult for TB Alert as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Indeed, the pandemic is having an awful impact on TB worldwide as resources are diverted to fight it.

That said, I bring slightly more positive news today. Our Trustees have agreed a plan to save TB Alert, albeit in a much reduced form, and with it our ability to support this forum. I will post with further details as they are confirmed. I will also be returning from furlough to help with this transition. Thanks to everyone who has continued to contribute and support each other in the meantime.

It will be a terrible shame if TBAlert is not continuing because the forum is the best way that ordinary individuals can find truthful data on the internet and share experiences.There is no doubt that there is a vast knowledge base on the internet but when a TB sufferer relates the fact that an individual has gained info from the internet the doctor then blanks them for knowing more than they do about the subject. This even extends to the ultimate insult that they will now give a patient any antibiotics whatsoever even when the patient tells the doctor those antibiotics taken are doing them good and getting them better.

UK doctors then expect their strict advice = do not get antibiotics from the internet they may be talcum powder will be adhered to...... People with an ounce of kokum who are in so many words =go away and die will do so.... No they will not they will obtain their own medication and get themselves healthy again and in some cases will sue their unhelpful doctors. Aren't doctors under a pledge to do no harm?
