Hello all I was wondering if anyone as ever had IVF after Anorexia??
Im just recovering from Anorexia although its been a difficult journey and still is. I still have the restrictive thoughts and my mind keeps playing games. I want to try for my fourth cycle of IVF as soon as the consultant agrees.
Anyone with an advice or success stories will be appreciated xx

They are very lucky, if you are undernourished for long enough periods will stop, as mine did
I have a friend who managed to conceive through IVF after pretty severe anorexia - she now has a beautiful two-year old. But I will add that she was physically well when doing the IVF so you do need to get to the point where your body will cope with the treatment. Also being pregnant whilst struggling with anorexic thoughts is very difficult so if you can get yourself to a better position before conceiving then it will definitely help. I had a baby last year without IVF.
I am 38yrs old and I have suffered with eating disorders from 14 years old anorexia purge. I spent many years in my twenties drinking and abusing my body trying to shut the voice up and have liver cirrhosis. My periods have never been regular and I didn't have any at all from 28 till 37 I never used contraceptives as I thought I was infertile. I have not drank now for 7 years and I started eating better than I ever have before I fell pregnant having three periods six months apart I took oestrogen and folic acid and had reflexology and low and behold fell pregnant a total miracle x
The doctors where amazed as I'm so I'll from my eating a d drinking problems.
If it can happen to me it can happen to you xx

The procedure of IVF should only be carried out by a well-qualified doctor who knows how to handle this situation. If you want I can suggest you some of the amazing IVF specialists who are having a great record of successful results
It isnt true that being underweight wont affect ivf. Ihad ivf because of my anorexia. i was so underweight over a long period (starting at puberty to now, 58), that my periods stoped for several years in my mid 20s. I did want help, i went to the doctor at 6.5 stone as my finger nails were falling out, but he said nothing about how thin I was and I couldnt bring myself to talk about it. I had fertility treatment over a 3 yr period, then had to wait 2 years for my 1st ivf treatment. It was very dificult to eat enough to put on enough weight to become fertile. I had 3 rounds of ivf which resulted in my daughter at the last chance. Anorexia isnt something which you are cured from. It is something you learn to manage, balancing healthy eating and the minimum weight I can function on. Perhaps if my personal circumstances were happier I wouldnt need to focus on food and weight .

Im still struggling to be honest and its got worse the last few weeks. I just wish it would stop, im so desperate for a baby now being 36 years old. I’m still under the eating disorder hospital to try and combat the illness. Thank you and best wishes xx
I dont wish to scare you, but at 36 time is running out. See this as a temporary thing, if you have the strength to restrict your eating u have the determination to temporarily put on weight to achieve this goal. Put on half a stone from eating as healthy as you can, boost your hormones and have a baby. You will be so happy and besotted you wont have time to constantly dwell on yourself and whatever problems led to now , its a new lease of life. This is my experience.
Hi honey, I'm sorry you're facing this.. May I ask, are you undergoing ''guaranteed'' package?? The clinic we were with has this very option. The point is that they'll continue trying unless successful. If no luck after 5 OE IVF shots, and a patient doesn't want to proceed with DE, - they refund 90% money paid back. Quite a nice back plan to have, isn't it.
