On to another Chemo Drug - Topotecan or also known as Hycamtin

Well Hello, Finished two treatments of Doxil/Caelyx and it wasn't for me. My CA 125 went from 198 to 521 which is the highest I have ever been. My Oncologist was like, yep this isn't working. Oncologist appointment results as promised.

He’s quite happy for me to stay on the hycamtin for now as I’ve no side effects and in October I’ll have another scan to see how I’m doing. He said that my CA125 is not really a good marker for me. It is the scans which indicate the progress or not of the cancer.

After the carbo/caelyx fiasco I managed just one dose of hycamtin and then the blood counts plummeted even further down. Got shingles too on top of it all.

Back on Treatment

Well my visit to the onc for my scan result brought the news that i was kind of expecting , the pains i've been having in my back are the tumours growing again .. so im back on chemotherapy in about 3 weeks time .. only this time a different type TOPOTECAN (Hycamtin) I've to get it every day for 5 days
