Sorry MIA- Home IV antibiotics and now steroid diabetes
Hi guys, I went back and read my post from just getting out of the hospital about three weeks ago. Thank you all for your support and nice posts! I'm about three weeks out of the hospital now, and it's been pretty crazy. I don't even know how much I've paid in doctor's co-pays and prescriptions. It's

Severe attack-anyone taking Zileuton Extended Release?
Hi everyone, I haven't been on in quite a long time. I've had a lot happen since I was last here. I lost two jobs, both related to my health. The first was a hospital job, and I was walking around about 5 hours a day, and on oral prednisone for about 14 months because of a severe asthma attack, and

Lung specialist totally stressed me out!
Hi guys, I know it's been a while since I posted. I actually got fired from my last job the day after I told my supervisor I was in the process of applying for FMLA. Here in the States if an employer has over 50 employees, they have to provide for the Family/Medical Leave Act. Basically it's an official

Is anyone having a problem with excessive coughing up of phleghm?
Does anyone else have this problem? I am having so much problem with phlegm. Having allergy shots for years. Nasal sprays, flovent, zyrtec, now pd dr. put me on mucinex 2x day. Any suggestions? It is bothering me more than my Parkinson's at this point.

13 year old with asthma- a few questions
Hi! I have a 13 year old daughter (Haley) who was diagnosed with asthma when she was 11. It was very mild, the doctors even called it ""borderline"", meaning they weren't sure if it was bad enough to even call it asthma. She went about 2 years hardly using her inhaler, probably about once a month This

I am currently on Flovent and have been always, which is a steroid, I am not sure of the dose of it or anything but I am starting to get concerned whether it is good or not. I am intrested if i possibly could change my medication and get on

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here in some time. I used to be a regular but have been very busy lately and our families asthma has been under control until recently. I have checked in from time to time to see how everyone is doing though. My youngest son, who is now 12, has mild to moderate asthma and

Methylprednisolone IV
My son just moved away from home to go to school and had a bad attack and went to a different hospital than usual. He has a note from his doctor on his usual treatment but they have him on a methylprednisolone IV and then oral prednisone for a week, plus he is still using his flovent 8 puffs per day.

Out of control asthma: how do I survive?
I have a *probable* dx of intrinsic asthma - the ""challenge"" test of a few weeks ago indicated that I don't have the allergic type. They seem to have eliminated other causes for my chronic cough, chest tightness and wheezing...every year I get a ""cold"" that lasts 2-3 months, then I still cough when

Hi guys, I haven't been around in a long while, but I supposed my asthma was O.K. for a bit, or at least I had other health and life issues to deal with! And then my doctors have been giving me a bit of the run around with some of my symptoms, but I'm convinced they

Feel like I failed because I'm on pred. AGAIN
Hi everyone, I just joined today. It seems like you have a really nice forum going here with lots of support. I'm from the US, but have been looking for a place that I can talk about my asthma where people will understand, and this is the best forum I've seen. So glad to be here. Here's my story briefly

Up and down...do you get this?
Hi, I'm in the middle of a flare at the moment and was wondering if you all have this happen when your asthma acts up? On Tuesday it was terrible (coughing up phlem, tightness, cough, pain). Went to my asthma doctor quickly and got a handful on inhalers (I have a few things so they had been trying to

Short Memory
I was wondering if anyone else with asthma also has a short memory once you are feeling better. My 19 year old son had a near-fatal athma attack 3 months ago and has been back to emergency 3 times since. He upped his Flovent to the daily max and is now feeling much better. He informed me that his asthma

Hopeful...how strange is this?
Hi guys, I know I haven't posted a new thread in a while but thought I'd let you know what's going on. In graduate school I was diagnosed with moderate persistent asthma, and treated with several meds for that and reflux, only the coughing didn't ever really go away. Also, I would take oral steroids
