Cardioversion

Hi was just wondering how long people have waited between the two stages have had pad for about 3 years am 48 and diabetic have had a few cardioversions none of which lasted more than a few weeks in nsr first stage was done on Nov 6 2017 at Derryford and feel worse than before I had it done

I've had a failed cardioversion last month and now I've been told I'm not a good candidate for an ablation which really upset me – I was told by EP that I have severe myocardiopathy. I'd like to hear from others who have been told they are not good ablation candidates.

Interested in anyone’s experience or understanding of self cardioversion with exercise. This is my anecdotal evidence: 10 minutes cycling uphill at high intensity (= can’t go any faster!) works.

Hi, had recent diagnosis of AF , required cardioversion to correct. Now on Xarelto, awaiting TEE in cardiology etc next 2 weeks. How soon can I exercise and has any one here experience of training in a grappling sport (bjj) whilst on blood thinners ? 40 yr old M. Thanks

Hiya Happy New Year All Had a chemical Cardioversion mid December (week 5) as I was went into Atrial Fibrillation 2 week’s after my Aortic valve and ascending aorta Aneurysm replacement. Fortunately the chemical Cardioversion worked and I didn’t need to be shocked.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts and experiences. They wereall helpful and enabled me to form my questions and approach to my doc re making my upcoming TEE as smooth as possible. Had my first cardioversion yesterday for Atrial Flutter: back to sinus mode-yippee. The EP doc says that it is a temporary solution just to get me through the holidays and then most probably I will have a second ablation.

Late Sept I had a successful (so far) Cardioversion. 7 Dec I was told to stop all meds. This panicked me and I waited a couple of days. I have been off meds now for 4 days. I am worried as to what is a normal heart rate for me. I know I’m probably a bit paranoid now.

This time it would not go away and had cardioversion for the first time. Unfortunately the AF only went away for 24 hours.

He wants to do another ablation however I am not quite on board(so soon) instead I will have a Cardioversion. Anyone had a recent Cardioversion?

EP thinks the verapamil may help everything rather than taking the chance with cardioversion.

So I never have had a cardioversion ;)

Since then I had one Cardioversion that lasted 2 days; an NHS cardiologist who would request a test and forget that I had done it since my last visit and someone that didn't always know my true status or even what medication I was sometimes taking.

After i had the discharge changed a couple of time, once because my heart rate went upto 130-150 for 48hours, i could hardly breath, couldnt put 2 words together without breathing, they eventually did a chest drain and took 1.5ltr out, the heart rate came down to araound 100 and a cardioversion was now

My cardiologist put me on Flecainide 2 x 50 mg daily and 2 x 5 mg Eliquis, but this did not prevent a second Afib episode and a second cardioversion after 6 months. Again, my potassium was very low, about 2.8, with my cardiologist telling me that now I should consider an ablation.

I have been on this drug since having a cardioversion, last January no side effects but I have had a cough since May, going to see the Dr in 3 weeks to discuss!

Shortly after returning to the ward my heart went into Afib, back to theatre for a cardioversion, unfortunately it didn’t work so going to be reviewed in three months. Chest X-ray showing fluid around lungs so kept on strong diuretics.

I received a letter informing me that i will undergo Cardioversion in January, i am having a severe lack of information coming to me from my medics other than them saying it was ok for us to travel to India as we had planned as long as we stayed on the meds.
