Azithromycin
I am a newcomer to this antibiotic and am on week five of taking it but have noticed a pattern emerging. Thursday - two pills - feel quite bouncy and good in the lung department. Friday - one pill - still feeling good in the lung department. Saturday - one pill - quite energetic and able to move around

Re consultant
Evening everyone Feeling really down just been to see my stand in consultant, was hoping for answers as to why I've felt so rubbish since June just didn't expect him to be quite so candid. I did know my emphysema was severe, he said it's very severe and wide spread which means lung reduction wouldn't

Always check the dates.
I have a nasty (green sputum) cough which is coming from the top of my chest not deep down in the lungs, I have not had and infection in more than 2 years since I started taking Azithromycin 3 times a week. Tuesday last week I took in a sputum sample to the docs, stopped my Azithromycin and started

The good, the bad and the ugly
The good - one week's course of Azithromycin seems to have seen off the latest chest infection - whoop whoop to that and winning £2.80 on the euromillions lottery :) The bad - opening the front door to the cat who obviously found it so traumatic he felt the need to shred six holes in my arm The ugly

Its been a little while...
Hi everyone. Im sorry its been so long since Ive been on here. After coming out of hospital I felt I needed some time when I wasnt thinking/talking/dreaming asthma all the time. Thankfully the subcut is working well and making a significant difference to my everyday life. Annoyingly its still a nightmare

A positive from a GP
Yesterday, I finally managed an appointment to see our 'thoracic' specialist GP at our surgery and since he is too good a doctor that was no mean feat. Having sat patiently and listened to my long, long list of woes for fifteen minutes, he took my hand and said 'How do YOU want to proceed with medication

Asthma Medication
Hi All, Sitting at home and struggling yet again I thought I'd try to do something to try to keep my mind off my chest but was useful too to me and anyone else with asthma, so I thought I'd put together a list of meds available for treating asthma. I have tried most out there and found the best combination

Wobbly legs
I am getting what I can only describe as wobbly legs, they feel like they are going to give way on me although they have not. I am o.k. when I first get up in the morning then after about an hour I feel so tired and get these wobbly legs. I thought it might be the medication I take lanzaprazole, thyroxine

The worst flare up I had so far!!
My God,- this really was a taff time for me. First day up and move a bit around to get my activity back. I went back twice to my doctor with fever and difficulty breathing, chest pain and so on. The last antibiotics didn't help at all so she gave me a other on Erythromycin and of course prednisolone

Pride comes before a fall. Dilemma
Having just been congratulating myself on not having had a chest infection for seven months, today I have the blocked nose, headache, wobbly legs etc. For me every cold goes to my lungs within a couple of days. The dilemma - I have rescue meds, erythromycin and steroids, - do I start now on the antibiotics

Your comments please
I have been feeling a bit rough the last few days, bodily I felt as if I had a cold but no runny nose, (I put it down to the flue jab) then today I feel worse and have a tickly cough and bringing up some light green phlegm, my breathing has not changed. I am not sure whether to take my rescue antibiotics

What do the community think about open fires- burning either wood or coal- for people with lung disease?
I've been diagnosed with bronchiectasis in the past year, though had it for much longer- took more than 2 years to get specialist referral, GP just kept saying it was my asthma/indigestion/post nasal drip.......... Happily now under control with azithromycin on alternate days. It is getting round to

Does anyone else get bad spots and is worried about progesterone making them worse with the Mirena Coil? Bad endo and bad acne.
I know that progesterone makes my spots worse. I'm not talking about simple zits but big (inch diameter) and full of (sorry) muck. I hope this isn't a case of 'too much information' below. I get spots that are so infected the local glands will swell painfully to try and help fight the infection.

Spots on my arms - Side Effects?
Hi, Ever since I was put onto the medication for my asthma I have noticed spots appearing on both my arms. I am on Aminophylline, Carbosisteine, Symbicort, Spiriva and Erythromycin. The spots look like acne. Has anyone else had similar? They don't itch but they do seem to be increasing. James.

Symptomless chest infection
Right now I'm on azithromycin for bacterial infections for the third time in four months. All three times accompanied asthma flares. Two (the one in may and the one now) were discovered solely by blood tests (CBC with elevated neutrophils and low leucocytes) were completely symptomless unless one counts

When to take nebs
Hi, I'm probably being very silly here but sometimes I don't know when to take my nebs. I have had a hard time lately with my asthma and suspected bronchiectasis (not diagnosed yet as I am waiting for a CT scan but a lot of my symptoms point to it). I have days where I feel fine and days where I feel

Really uncontrolled ... feeling out of my depth and unsupported
Hiya, hope everyone is well. This is a bit of and ""argh ..."" post! So sorry if anyone is frustrated by it! I am currently going through a really rough patch asthma wise, I have a brittle diagnosis, but it recently seems to have taken brittleness to a whole new level. Since June I have had at least

Azithromycin for Bronchiectasis as a prophylactic?
Has anyone had experience taking Azithromycin 3 times a week for Bronchiectasis? Have had this condition for 50+ yrs now, but having repeated/varied infections, so been prescribed this treatment as a prophylactic. Apparently works to reduce inflamation, but am bit concerned about side effects(hearing
