Ventolin and side effects
Not asking for medical advice - just curious whether anyone else feels dizzy/has palpitations with Ventolin even after being on it for a while. Normally, I don't take that much Ventolin as it doesn't seem to work that well and Atrovent has the same effect with less needed. But I ended up taking absolutely

Hi all, Ive had asthma since i was a baby/toddler, and it was always mild-moderate. When i turned 13 and started to do my Duke of Edinburgh award it became a little bit more tricky to control and was classed as severe/brittle. ever since completing my A'levels 9 years ago its been classed as brittle

Who has a sats monitor at home?
Hello all I am in the middle of a chest infection which has, of course, exacerbated my asthma. I keep preds and clarithromycin at home, and started them last Friday at the usual dose. I neb with salbutomol and atrovent when I get an exacerbation. By early Saturday morning, I was fairly convinced that

Tripped up...
OK I am just really looking for some ideas, not really medical diagnosis, but maybe some ideas on where I go from here. The situation as it stands is: Over the last 2 years, my asthma just seems to have gotten more and more aggressive and I even got to the point where I was being admitted or seen in

No real improvement after nebuliser
My son is 7, and suffers from what I think is cough variant asthma - as his only symptom is a cough. He is on cetrizene, white atrovent inhaler, ventolin and QVAR 50 preventer. On Saturday we had to visit out of hours, as his cough was bad (he had been sick twice from it, and hadn't slept much in the

Atrovent
Just got an inhaler of this to go with other two inhalers. Wondered if anyone else had had experience of it. It was the only drug that worked when I had a severe attack so hoping this might be my wonder drug. Taking 6 - 8 puffs a day. Anyone else tried it and if so how soon did it work for them

Bricanyl MDI
HiI know on the old site there was a thread about this and the withdrawal (if that is a word!) of it. I am confused because I went to see my consultant last Thursday and she prescribed bricanyl MDI to me for the first time instead of salbutamol. She did this because I get really bad shakes with the salbutamol

Discontinued inhaler, bank holidays and feeling poorly
First off, sorry for the length of this post, I just need to sound off a bit. I've been feeling rough for weeks, I took a course of oral steroids about a month ago when it started but symptoms only partially resolved. Saw the asthma nurse at the hospital who said to hold off taking another course as

Slightly scary experience - anyone else on montelukast found this happens?
So I forgot to take my (double dose) montelukast yesterday evening - d'oh! tbh had been feeling not so great anyway, but really felt pretty SOB this evening, could feel that I was breathless talking though not sure it was noticeable and was REALLY struggling on the walk home, slowed right down and definitely

salbutamol weirdness.
I've found recently if I'm using it for tightness, it makes me really lightheaded to the point where I usually have to lay down due to feeling like I'll pass out and I feel really sick. I'm ok if I'm using it for coughing and shortness of breath. I'll sound stupid, but it puts me off using it with tightness

Atrovet
I have just had a bad admission to the local costa. Finally I am free. Have had meds changed etc and find myself with atrovent nebs and inhaler as well as usual ventolin. How does this work? It seems to last longer than the ventolin. Can I take this in an attack? The info from said costa was not

Relievers for reversibility test
Not quite sure what was going on, I posted this and got multiple copies, deleted duplicates and then loads vanished! Anyway...just wondering if it's possible to request a different inhaler/drug to be used for reversibility testing, and if so how? Saw on the form today it said salbutamol which seems

Reliever used for reversibility testing
Saw on the form today they want to do another reversibility test, using salbutamol again. Is there any way of asking them to use something else, maybe Atrovent? I've been wondering if the reason my last reversibility test showed nothing was because they used salbutamol which I've never responded to

Novovirus
Just had a unique experience due to Novovirus closing chest wards, stayed on a ward that was crashed open hence at first there was only beds! No tables, lockers, water jugs or more worringly enough nebulisers. I was ok because i have my nebs via O2 but 1 nebuliser for 18 patients is a bit scary. The
