I've posted your question on facebbok and will ask our nurseonline for tips as well. Will post answers here :)

Thank you

Here's a few tips, I'll post others as they answer:

1. Hot baths relives joints a little and don't forget your stretching exersises.

2. I don't know how good you are with the sun but my rash always went away on holiday. Sun and saltwater make a huge difference! Maybe it's also the fact that I'm relaxed. Other than that, well, prednisone and I use fresh aloe vera to cool the rash down.

3. Im with u on this 1 as mine seems to be constant too, the best "tip" I've read, used and it's worked for me on the rash and itching is to run an ice cub on it, apparently relaxes the nerves to stop the itch, hope this helps u and obviously take antihistamines as well.

Here's the response from our nurseonline service:

This patient does not say what medication they are currently taking for their lupus. Whatever they are taking does not appear to be controlling their disease.

Antihistamines may help alleviate the intense itching. However, it is important to make sure that the drugs the patient may be taking are not responsible for their skin reactions. It is recognised that lupus patients are particularly " allergic" and this can be to certain foods, chemicals, insect bites, and drugs.

I can only advise that they return to their lupus specialist for further investigations and treatment.
