I often ask questions of the specialists re supplements etc and they say it's ok as I'm not on medication for lupus so there's no chance of interaction. The one thing I do know that none of us should take is echinacea as it boost the immune system and we don't want that! It's often added to cough medicine so you have to be careful to check ingredients.

Olive leaf extract is a new one on me. I will ask the specialists but I have a feeling it will be a new on to them too. I tried googling the question of interaction with medications and got the answer none documented here: drugs.com/npp/olive-leaf.html

As I said I will ask the specialists but if you're concerned I would maybe ask wherever you buy from i.e. Holland and Barrett as they may know more or even your GP. I'll ost any answer I get here.

Thank you, peeps keep saying try this and try that. I had heard not to take echinecea tho. It would be great if you DO find out anything, thanks again

Ok, as I thought an unknown quantity to the specialists. This is what Professor D'Cruz said: "I have never heard of this supplement but it looks pretty harmless. However, if you look it up on Wikipedia it cites it as an immunostimulant so perhaps caution should be advised:

Ah thank you, I dont want to do anything to interact with meds so I'll 'leave' it alone ;-) x

:D Probably wise. However, thanks for the info I am now going to investigate it as currently not on meds for lupus so I'm always interested in supplements x

Alternative therapies are very prominent in Oz (I'm an Ozzie) but I do find that sometimes others do not understand that you have Lupus because your immune system is WORKING OVERTIME and you do not need remedies, natural or otherwise, that boosts your immune system. On the other hand some natural products are not counter-productive. I reckon it's best to Google it before you jump in.

Yes I agree thats why I thought I'd ask on here where people know what I'm talking about before I even consider buying anything. Theres plenty of people that think they can help :-/

They mean well though and you have to appreciate that they care enough about you to suggest these remedies, don't you? I know I do, it's also a beaut opportunity to explain Lupus and why the remedy is being turned down.

Yes I know but when you get it often...why dont you try this and you'd be better if you did that etc! I shall speak to her tomorrow and see what she says bless her x
