Ras diagnosis

Hello, my 5 year old was just diagnosed with RAS. He has had bouts of episodes that have been on and off for a few years now...but they have been returning more frequently.

He struggles with feeding delays, sensory processing and anxiety.

Most episodes occur and then after he vomits. For the longest time we were supposed this was the only trigger. The other night he got a piece of hair stuck in his mouth gaged and it was triggered. His triggers are random things. There are times where he would turn pale while eating or playing and it's triggered by something we can't pin point and that has been the hardest. It usually isn't with pain though.

Any triggers that are not pain or suprise startled emotion?

When my son was small we couldn’t always pin point the trigger for an event. Now that he’s older (8) he’s able to tell us about things which weren’t apparent like a tummy ache or head ache. It’s become easier to understand what’s caused it now he’s older but is still so scary to watch. His trigger is mainly pain but he’s also been set off by being scared and once he’s had one even small things like feeling a bit unwell can set him off over the next few days. Hope you find out what’s triggering your son. X
