Hi I have 21 month old twins who I think may be suffering from RAS. They both started having breath holding spells from 7 months old. As they got slightly older their breath holding spells became more intense and were followed by seizures where they would go blue and their upper body stiffens and lower body jerks. Eyes rolled back and it lasts for about a minute with heart stopping on occasions. They've seen a neurologist who is not differentiating between breath holding and RAS. Do the above symptoms sound typical of RAS?

Hi there - yes the symptoms you describe sound exactly like RAS - my granddaughter also goes blue around the mouth and her feet too - he hands clasp up and her body stiffens - she then goes floppy - her eyes are usually open - we insisted on tests recently and she had an EEG we were worried she may have a form of epilepsy as her last episode wasn't triggered by pain or fright - it was simply that she was upset that we were leaving the house - we have been told that she definitely has RAS - I think in America they would refer to it as breath holding - it's essentially the same thing I believe - how many episodes per day week or month are your children suffering from ?
Regards
Karen
