Non-melanoma skin cancer is hugely overlooked, yet it’s the UK’s most common cancer with over 240,000 cases diagnosed annually - with figures expected to increase to over 400,000 by 2025!

Rates of melanoma are rising faster than any other cancer in Britain with 1 in 36 males and 1 in 47 females diagnosed during their lifetime - AND it’s now one of the biggest killing cancers in the 15-34 age group!

The cost of treatment for skin cancer is estimated to be over £500 million annually, placing a huge financial burden on the NHS...

YET 90% OF CASES ARE PREVENTABLE AND 98% CURABLE IF DIAGNOSED EARLY!

It’s not rocket science! EDUCATION is key to preventing death and suffering AND relieving the burden on our NHS!

YET, UNLIKE OTHER CANCERS, THE GOVERNMENT SPENDS NOTHING ON TACKLING THIS MAJOR PUBLIC HEALTH CONCERN - DESPITE IT BEING ALMOST ENTIRELY PREVENTABLE AND CURABLE!

That’s why Skcin have always referred to skin cancer as the ‘skinderella’ of cancers and why, as a specialist charity, we are dedicated to the prevention and early detection of the disease through educational intervention.

Via our suite of five national accreditation programmes, our newly launched app and heaps of other awareness work, we are making a difference and saving lives!
