Seven myths about sunglasses that could damage your eyes:
☀️ sunglasses should only be worn when it's sunny. FALSE UV light can also be present on cloudy days and can damage your eyes as well as your skin.
☀️ babies and children don't need to wear sunglasses. FALSE children's eyes can also be damaged by the sun's rays.
☀️ cheap sunglasses don't offer protection. FALSE the only thing that matters is whether they have 100% UV protection.
☀️ size doesn't matter. FALSE The bigger, the better as more UV light is blocked out.
☀️ polarised lenses offer more protection. FALSE but they can cut down glare from reflective surfaces like water, windows or snow.
☀️ darker lenses offer more protection. FALSE again the only thing that matters is that they have 100% UV protection.
☀️ tinted (amber, green or grey) lenses offer more protection. FALSE although they do offer greater contrast for people playing ball sports, making the ball easier to spot.
