Sickle Cell Disorder is a genetic blood disorder in which the sufferer inherits two S genes from their parents, which affects the red blood cells making them result in sickled shaped cells from where it got it's name. It affects mostly people from predominantly Black, Mideast and Asian descent. It is characterised by painful joint episodes commonly called sickle cell crises and hospital stays.
However, with good management, healthy life style and the right medications, it is perfectly manageable.
