Hello, I am currently thinking of adding integrative treatment. Is there anyone here who has an experience with

1) Meshima PL2 & PL5?

2) Fucoidan?

3) anything else?

Any positives? Side effects?

Thanks on advance

Hello,

I see by your profile that you are young and male so I very much doubt whether my experience would be relevant.

I am unfamiliar with the substances you mentioned. Besides tamoxifen, I take Omega-3 capsules with glucosamine 3x daily, calcium + vitamin D, a multivitamin, and three heart meds (I had open heart surgery in 2018 at age 73).

Best of wishes for your health! Given that you are writing from Bulgaria, I imagine others here would be as interested as I am in knowing what the substances you mentioned are, and who prescribes them there.

Hugs,

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your reply. I am here for my aunt. She just turned 61. She has MBC (hormone positive, her2-), with lots of bones mets. Currently one of the mets is pressing one of the nerves close to her neck. That causes severe pain, which is not possible to relief. In short, we are pretty desperate. The substances I mentioned (meshima and fucoidan) are recommended by integrative oncologist. There have been studies that either one can potentially lead to sudden regression, which we are hoping for. Both are rare and difficult to find. The studies are actually for other types of cancer, e.g. lung cancer, but its not excluded that MBC patients could also benefit.

Hence I was raising my question here, hoping to get positive answer from someone who has experience.

Currently my aunt is also taking Tamoxifen (Brand name Nolvadex) and from time to time Omega-3. However, due to upset stomach, she skips some intakes on both. All in all - pretty tough.

But we remain positive and will do everything to save her.

Hugs,

Plamen

Hi Plamen,

It is very nice of you to look for information that might help your aunt. I googled the two medical mushrooms you mentioned, and found one 2010 study that concluded the following:

"P. linteus extracts demonstrated tumor regression in three independent case reports, suggesting that an extract from P. linteus or a dietary supplement based on the extract from P. linteus may have potential use for the alternative treatment of cancer."

To me, three case reports are not strong evidence to suggest that meshima (or P.linteus) is a good candidate as a cancer therapy. I hope your aunt is not pinning her hopes on it or fucoidan. According to the Internet, both mushrooms can be ordered online for a price. However, it is most likely that she would be wasting her money.

Please tell your aunt to take her tamoxifen (20 mg or 40mg) once or twice a day to shrink her bone mets. The tumour giving her neck pain may be one of those that shrink. Meanwhile, she should ask her oncologist to prescribe a pain medication strong enough to give her relief.

She should certainly eat healthily and exercise every day (at least 30 minutes). Given that her cancer is hormone positive and HER2 negative, she should, at 61 years old, have years left to live so she needs to develop positive thinking, and help her body to thrive.

Warm wishes to you both,

Cindy
