First day of treatment begins today

Hi All,

I'm off to my first SBRT today. I suppose I've been in a state of denial until this week. While I've been reading, researching and following posts from others here, it's always felt distant to me. Now it's here, and it's been a week of sleepless nights and emotional ups and downs. I know I'll get through this like many have here, but when reality bites, it sure does bite hard! Thanks everyone for sharing your journeys, it really does help! Now, off to battle!

I know on my first radiation treatment it hit me when the machine started moving. It came and went and finished 44 with no real issues. Hopefully you can get your head around it put that energy into enjoying life. For some of us it will always be about that next test result or scan result. Hopefully for you its just this and then back to normal. Good luck.

Wishing you well. Don’t repress your worry or other feelings but know this is a short time in the grand scheme. You will do great. Mine ended a year ago and in the rearview it was a short period of disruption.

Thanks for asking! One year post treatment and numbers are coming down, but slowly. However, all in the right direction. Last PSA was 5.3. I was hoping it would be lower by now, but I attribute it to being without ADT and having strong testosterone levels. My oncologist concurs. In the midst of everything, I moved from Colorado to California for a job opportunity. Meeting with a new oncologist and urologist over the next couple of weeks so that I have local access to care, if needed. However, I'm fully in medical tourism mode and traveling back to Denver for my regular check-ins.

Only issues I've had are staying on Flomax, due to continued straining and blood/pain during orgasm that started in August. The blood finally stopped after a month and a half, and the pain is tolerable, but seeing the urologist to see if there's any concerns to address.

Appreciate the check-in! Been checking in regularly to see how you all are managing. Getting ready to join a new Movember group here in Southern California.
