Are u not allowed NHs care?

in reply toSkyblueboston

my visa states no recourse to work or public funds...

As far as im aware the NHS can help you to deliver your child but the aftet-care will not exsist. How long have u been in the U.K?

Your spouse/ husband can apply for an (paid for) Visa extension until you are fit enough to travel back to your country.

Then you'll be able to come back to the U.K

Ok, I do know that if you receive antenatal care privately but from the NHs they can do a payment plan so not to expensive straight away. How about getting a 0% credit card for up to 20 months this way least you don't have to pay everything out of your pay packet straight away.

Visit the local anti natal unit in your area, and ask them about payment options and the services they provide, I think there is a specific number you have to call :)

if you are student here than you can register with NHS. No recourse to public fund does not apply to the NHS care always - it means you cant claim things like sure-start or assistance or money if you are unable to pay your bills or rent a house etc.

You pay for nhs only when you are just visiting the uk not when you live here.take 2proofs of your address and your passport to the nearest doctors surgery and register yourself as a new patient.no recourse to public funds means you can not claim any benefits.

Hi, antenatal care is supposed to be essential and therefore accessible to those with no recourse to public funds. However, this isn't always the case in practice. I've heard of a clinic in East London that provides antenatal support to migrant women who've been denied care. Just googled it and it's run by Drs of the world uk and the project is 'project London'. Even if you are in another part of the country it would still be worth contacting them for advice. Unfortunately their website not working at the moment, but try googling them later.

Good luck
