I'm 40 pregnant with my first baby by IVF, is this grounds for ELCS?

Thanks

I think they will probably want you to try natural labour, because a c section is a major operation to recover from, and if your pregnancy has been normal and you are fit and healthy there is no medical need for one. Good Luck

Hello, Do you mean cesarean section? How far gone are you? Are you at birth plan stage? Have you got consultant-led care? I'm 36. I chose consultant-led care in my first trimester due to my previous multiple miscarriages and said I was maybe wanting a cesarean, so my midwife chose a pro-cesarean consultant. I will meet with him in a few weeks, I will be 23 weeks by then. I've read a lot since my first trimester and am less panicked than I was, so am going to try for a natural labour. My main reasons are that the recovery time is way way quicker. I didn't fancy going it alone for night feeds with a massive cut in my belly, or pushing a pram uphill, and only part-time support from a doola. Also, hypno-birthing has a great success rate for easy quick births. I have also been to a nutritional consultant, a midwife consultant and a fitness consultant in preparation, all of whom have said that your age is not a factor, it is your level of fitness and nutrition. I have a specialised diet/supplement plan and exercise plan, so with the hypno-birthing techniques, I'm feeling confident. My sis-in-law is pregnant with her first at 40 and is also trying for a natural birth for all the above reasons xxxxx good luck and keep calm xxxx

Hi blue. Thanks that's realy informative and interesting.

Main reason is we're coming back to the uk ( ill be 27 weeks in couple weeks when I land)

I spent first trimester in uk but then we were going to move abroad but circumstances have changed.

So I have to find gp, midwife all over again.very daunting as my husband won't be able to relocate until baby's born.

If I go natural he may miss the birth as needs book specific dates, don't want him away.

Otherwise i may try natural but its too scary to be alone I think.

I was told age, first baby and IVF baby were reason too.

Love and luck xx
