nystagmus

hi all

I’ve a 6 week old and noticed twice now a short (a few seconds) rapid eye movement horizontal back and forth in my babies eyes. The first episode was yesterday evening and the last one was this evening. I’m wondering if this is signs of a nystagmus and wanted anyone who had any experience or knowledge to help me understand if nystagmus is a gradual appearance of eye movement changes and whether they are constant or can be one offs like I’ve faced?

Any help appreciated

I remember googling the hell out of this when my little boy was newborn as he did this, he would also occasionally roll his eyes up to the top! I asked the health visitor about it and then the GP and both checked him and reassured me so I would suggest you do the same (he was perfectly fine) for peace of mind xx
