Aches and pains!

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and starting to notice a lot of achiness in my inner thighs/top of my legs/groin area. I also get a mild cramp in my stomach if I go for a long walk. From what I've looked up it sounds like round ligament pain. But not sure what the groin area pain is. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar. I worry about how much worse it'll get as the pregnancy progresses!

Yes, your ligaments do loosen towards the end of pregnancy, which i found really uncomfortable. It’s helpful during labour, not so much before! Do you sleep with a pregnancy pillow? I found it helped to sleep on my left side with the pillow between my knees to raise the other leg. I also did some very gently pregnancy stretches/yoga - if you search YouTube, there are videos designed to target this kind of pain. Obviously if it gets worse or you’re at all worried, chat to your midwife or GP. Good luck!

Thank you! Yes, I've just got a pregnancy pillow but I'm not sure that I'm liking it yet. It's so big it keeps falling out of the bed 😂. That's a great idea re yoga, thanks very much. Will look at that and seeing my midwife in the next week so will discuss with her. Thank you x

I’m 26 weeks today and have had the stitch pain for about 6 weeks now. Slowly getting stronger as the weeks pass. It is only when I walk fast or for long periods though or if I find myself rushing about at work. I also have started with the thigh pain the last week or 2. I could only describe it as like saddle sore when you’ve rode a bike for the first time in a long time. Again this starts later on in the day when I’ve been busy but by evening it’s quite something.

I saw my midwife yesterday and mentioned both. She said all totally normal, ligaments stretching and will only get worse as baby gets bigger. She’s given me the number to self refer to physio which I’m going to do today so might be worth you mentioning to your midwife and see if you can get some physio to help. I know I for one won’t be able to carry on working at the rate I am if the pain is only going to get worse and I don’t do something about it xx

That's exactly how I would describe it...as if you've been for a long bike ride and got soreness from the saddle! Thanks, I will mention to my midwife when I see her next. It hasn't felt as bad in the last 24 hours. Not sure if it's because I was doing quite a lot the last few days. But yes I can't imagine how I'll cope if it gets worse when I've still got three months of pregnancy to go! Hope you get through it okay and all the best x
