Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has been told they have a 2 vessel cord (umbilical cord) rather than 3? A scan on Tuesday suggested that this may (although too early to tell for sure) be the case. I have my 12 week scan on Friday and to be honest I’m totally freaking out! It’s been a very long journey to get here so just scared of something going wrong. Any advice, much appreciated. Thank you all xx

2 vessel cord
Just wanted to send you big hugs, I don't know how serious that would be if it were the case, but hopefully it's just an imaging problem. Fingers crossed for you xxx
Hi! I had two vessel cord with my first pregnancy.I also freaked out, but the midwifes reassured me that there was nothing to worry about as everything else on the scan was fine.
The only thing they did was to scan me again at 36 weeks as two vessels cord can cause the baby to grow slowly. The scan also was fine and my daughter was born 4 weeks later completely healthy.
I can't remember the percentage of pregnancies with two vessels cord, but the general idea is that if everything else at the scan is fine, then there are no issues with the baby.
Don't worry too much! It will be fine and if you are worried, speak to your midwife - they can explain everything to you and reassure you!
Sending you big hugs! ❤️
Thank you so much for your message, it really reassured me. Ok I will have the scan tomorrow and then give my midwife a quick call after I think. Why do we Google when we know it only causes alarm???! So pleased all was well with you 😘xx
I don't know why we Google, but I did just that so I freaked out even more! All of the midwifes I spoke to were telling me not to worry, but I still used Google and made myself more anxious.
One good thing I found out was that in a lot of other countries don't even scan for two vessels cord as it very rarely causes any issues!
You will be fine! Good luck at your scan tomorrow and keep us posted! ❤️
