Scared of the bath

Hi

I have a 14 month lb and he has always loved the bath would cry when he had to go out. However over the last week seems absolutely terrified of the bath hysterical as soon as I run the water or he sees the bath, and just holds on to me tight. I’ve got no idea why nothing has changed from usual. I have tried to change bath time around but no luck at all. Has anyone else experienced this or has any advice?

I haven't had this but a mum from a group chat I'm in had the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. Nothing had changed but her little girl suddenly hated the bath. It was a phase that passed quite quickly, so I hope yours does too. She just tried to stay calm, talking to her daughter the whole time and changed a few things, letting her put what toys she wanted in the bath beforehand and letting her 'wash' herself and she stopped washing her face in the bath. Hope it sorts itself out soon xxx

Definitely good tips! I’ve never had this but with anything my LG doesn’t want to do it’s great to talk and then let her help. This morning as it’s first day back at nursery I let her help me prepare her lunch to take with her and she loved it. They are getting more and more independent and just want to help a lot of the time 🙂 x

This may sound silly but any chance he is scared of the water going down the drain? An ex partner of mine had a 2 year old lg who loved the bath would splash, play sing play with her toys never wanted to get out. Forgot to tell me DO NOT EVER pull the plug out while she is still in the tub! She was terrified of the water and the sound of it going down the drain 😬 poor thing was absolutely terrified and took awhile for her to trust me giving her a bath again. I didnt even think about it just pulled it just before I took her out. Poor thing 🙃

My nearly 2 year old has just started being terrified of the bath having always loved it. I am hoping it's a phase and just trying to stay as calm as possible.

I have recently had a similar problem. Although my son is 20 months old, he freaked out and refuses to let his feet touch the water , he screams and cries and clings to the side of the bath. Fortunately for me my 6 year old was nice enough to allow him to share five minutes of bath time with him and he has quickly decided that the bath is fun again, lots of playing in the outdoor paddling pool has helped too as he loves the splash- just hated the bath. I say quickly but it took about a month to convince him that baths were good.

Thanks for all the advice will definitely try and use them. Have ordered some new bath toys today to see if they will help. Was in the paddling pool for ages yesterday splashing around so the issue is definitely the bath! Fingers crossed I will be able to find out why and be able to help him soon xxx
