I’ve heard that whilst breastfeeding it’s good to avoid exercising, however now that I’m 6 weeks I feel like I want to start but don’t know how that’s going to affect my milk supply. I love breastfeeding and want to continue for as long as possible, however I don’t know whether any exercise will hinder that.
Thanks.

I exercised whilst breastfeeding and fed my little one for 13 months until he decided to wean himself off. No problems at all.
Just make sure you eat well and don’t rush into any strenuous exercise. Although there’s an arbitrary 6 weeks that you’re supposed to wait after giving birth, the body actually takes a lot longer than this to fully recover from childbirth and everyone’s recovery is different.
I’m currently breastfeeding and exercising. My little one is 14 weeks. I had a section so had to wait a bit longer to exercise but no one has mentioned it effecting breastfeeding . My pt is qualified in postnatal as she hasn’t said anything. Just make sure you drink and eat plenty. Start off slowly nothing too strenuous. We are just focusing on engaging the core at the moment and then adding other exercises in when I’m ready. Xx
