Why does she take so long? What teats are u using? It's just Advent do teats in stages like 1 hole for newborn 2 for the next stage then 3 i think from 6 months. ... so they drink quicker x

She is on the right teats and normally finish her bottle in a few seconds. I thought maybe it is a growth sprout?

My little boy seemed to get "Fed up" of milk at this age. He mess round with his bottle, chomping on it, and just drinking a few ounces then having a break then a few more rather than drinking a whole bottle all in one. He also dropped a feed. I could tell he was getting ready for real food. We persisted for another month then started weaning. He loves the food and has gone back to drinking milk normally. X

That's exactly what my girl is doing in the last two days. We are looking to start weaning when she gets to 5 months. Will that be the case every feed until the solid food and is that ok?

The most important thing is that LO is gaining weight. I started Hugo on baby rice at 4 months. Just a few tea spoons made up with his milk in the afternoon so he would still have some milk before bed. Then at 5.5 months introduced home made veg puree! He loves it and goes mad for sweet potato! :) I genuinely think they get bored! They are not stupid and if we ate the same thing every meal for months we would get bored too! :) it sounds so mean but when he was going through this phase I'd leave him untill he got really really hungry rather then feeding him as soon as he started to fuss for food. Because he was really hungry it encouraged him to eat more. It only took an extra 5 mins or so of waiting but it really helped. Is your girl showing signs of being interested in food, for example does she watch you and other people eating? I knew Hugo was ready when my husband and I were eating some Pringles and Hugo was staring at us and moving his mouth like he was chewing! He literally couldn't take his eyes off us! Xx

Jessica is watching us when we eat and she does movements with her mouth too. But the MW told me to wait until she is at least 22 months to start with baby rice and porridge.

in reply toSharonJess

22 months? Did she say why to wait that long?

in reply to

22 months is ridiculous!!! She must have meant 22 weeks aka 4.5 months x

in reply to

Must have....22months doesn't make sense x

in reply toSharonJess

What!! 22 months!! That's crazy!! As soon as we started with baby rice Hugo slept through 7pm - 7am and he went back to drinking more milk, and its made moving to veg easy as he got used to the new texture but with a bland flavour rather than such a drastic change! I've not bothered with porridge as he isn't particularly hungry on a morning, quite satisfied after a milk. At the end of the day, you know Jessica better than anyone, go for it when you think she is ready. I started veg wise with butternut squash and sweet potato, because they have a sweet flavour and mush up really easily! Xx

Sorry my mistake. She meant 22 weeks which she will be on 3rd Jan. The reason is that her digestion SYS will work in full. T

in reply toSharonJess

Thought that must have been it! Lol from what I researched (and what it says on the boxes) rice and porridge are good to go from 4 months but if you are more comfortable waiting till Jan then of course it's your decision. :) just keep an eye on Jessica's weight, so long as she is still gaining then you don't need to worry about her faffing with her feeds. Just get her to drink when ever you can! :) I've just given Hugo Apple!! So cute!! His little face lit up! Xx

Rach, did your baby was also very clingy and needy for your touch?

in reply toSharonJess

Not particularly, he has never been a clingy baby unless he is feeling unwell. He is very strong and independent!! If Jessica is a bit clingy it could be due to her teething and jabs. Only other thing I noticed was he became rather sicky, vomiting after each feed, I thought initially it was reflux and the gp agreed and gave us gaviscon but it passed when feeding improved. On reflection I think the sicky stage was due to him messing around on the teat so much and taking in too much air!!

Thanks for that. I will monitor her for the 2 days and if it doesn'tchange iI will check with the GP
