Caution. Tmi. 40weeks +4 and having sexy time.

So I've tried everything else in the book to try and start labour after having 4 weeks of on off contractions. The final straw this morning was the one thing that got me in this situation in the first place. So me and the hubby had some sexy time. Afterwards I felt uncomfy but went back to sleep as I've not been sleeping too well. I went to the loo when I woke and wiped some bloody pink mucus away. Is this normal? X

If you have not already had it it could well be your mucus plug or 'show' which is a sign of labour moving along! Fingers crossed for you.

I've just been to the loo again and there were a lot more this time. I had my second sweep on Tuesday and didn't bleed this much. Hope it's the start of labour. Thanks hunni x

Ohhh sounds like ur plug exciting. .. sex worked for me is getting ur hormones going and sounds like the start of things all the best... everyone is losing their plug im losing my mind lol I'm so impatient ;)

I hope this starts me off then. It wasn't the best experience but if it helps the little lady along it will be worth it. And I know what you mean about losing your mind. Mines been lost for a while now. Xx

Cool - I hope you are on your way! Sex is a much better (and far more enjoyable if you are in that zone in pregnancy) method than having a sweep! Something no-one ever seems to mention (because to be honest it does sound a little weird!) is that stimulating your nipples (DIY - or your partner) is a really good way of getting the hormones going, or keeping them going once things seem to be starting. Potentially less uncomfortable than sex, especially if your labour is taking some starting! It took me a couple of pregnancies to bring myself to try it out but I was desperate for anything to help move my last one along and it certainly worked for me. The is info out there on it but the important advice is to do it for about 3-5 mins at a time on one breast at a time and wait for a time in between (about 15-20 mins I think I remember)... I know it sounds odd but you are essentially trying to get the hormone release by mimicking the baby's suckling (you are after the same hormone which is released). Anyway hope you are already away and past worrying about 'getting going'. All the best. x

Thanks Hun. We've been doing the nipple stimulation as well lol. It was a little weird at first but like you say you get to the point where you will try anything. I'm hoping and praying this is the start x

Oh, that's great (partly because I know you aren't thinking I am totally strange! Lol!) I had a home birth with the baby that wouldn't get going and was worried that I would be transfered in - it really felt like it was that which switched the hormones on full and I think without it we would have been a bit under pressure. I don't know if it helped labour start but once things showed signs of going it definitely shortened it. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!
