I’m here, my stomach is upset much be all the jelly babies 😏

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

Good morning

I wonder just how many jelly babies you had to cause a tummy ache

I usually like a slice of cheesecake with tea once I have observed the fast

in reply to Roukaya

I didn’t have that many honestly, I suffer with diverticulitis,. 🌹

Hope you feel better soon 🌹

It is essential you look after your mind and body

If I eat excessive chocolate or spicy 🥵this can trigger IBS

I think it is important to know how your body behaves and reacts to observe it’s reactions and take good care

in reply to Roukaya

It must be difficult fasting Roukaya, I would find it hard.

The month of Ramadan is a holy month in Islam and a chance to refocus our religions ideals

It is by no means easy as I live by myself which no one

But I do a few fasts then take a day off to be followed by a few more

We are half way through Ramadan with another 15 day’s to go

I think 🤔 one aspect is the sacrifice of Fasting and the other is the loneliness and isolation as Ramadan centres around being with close family

in reply to Roukaya

Do you lose weight during Ramadan?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

I really wish I could lose weight

I have noticed when I am overseas as the hours are shorter it is possible to break the fasting with a huge plate of snacks which can be fried

Followed by a full dinner

In U.K. due to the long hours I prepare a plate of snacks such a samosa, kebabs, a slice of quiche, fish fingers and chicken dippers or dippers and this is usually enough

You as well! I've stayed away from the jelly babies and fruit jellies we've got... Can't think what's caused my stomach cramps and dizziness 🤔

Still up but it doesn’t count since I am in the US. Only 9pm here. In California. Bummer to be up all night.

TheDrivenSnow profile image
TheDrivenSnow in reply to daveh121

daveh121 profile image
daveh121

I’ll probably be up at 3am though. Maybe that counts.

in reply to daveh121

Lol, that counts. It’s 5.07 am here 😊

May38 profile image

Lol 😂😂must be lack of sleep can’t tell the time

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to

It’s the full moon that does it I think. Along with the lockdown. Bright skies, pretty except for trying to sleep.

in reply to daveh121

The full moon always gets me too

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

I will say the full moon was pretty that was good to see

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to

And I was up at 3 am. Very bright here with no fog.

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to daveh121

I think it does when I was working had too start at 4😏

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

In a bakery then a bit of anything at golf club

in reply to May38

Do you bake at home?

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

No I just pack and put it out

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to May38

A bakery! Wonderful. I tend to focus not on fancy stuff which would be nice, but for a family. This means bread. Sourdough.

Pastries would be fun to play with.

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to May38

Ouch. I had some early days also and never quite shook it off.

May38 profile image
May38

I know 5 in morning here but been a wake all night it’s crazy been like this a lot I lockdowns is getting to me

in reply to May38

It won’t be forever May, I think during lockdown you should listen to your body and if your awake in the night then read or do something else don’t just lie in bed thinking! Then during the day if your tired take yourself off to bed for a few hours. 🌹

Lock Downs are again hard to adjust

I am on my alone and I used to enjoy my freedom and independence but my wings have been cut

How has the Lock Down impacted on you ?

in reply to Roukaya

To be honest Roukaya it hasn’t been a great change for me, I tend to live a very quiet life, painting everyday. I don’t usually socialise a lot. 🌹

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to Roukaya

We are pretty rural. Not a lot has changed except not going to town much which is a 1.5 hour drive one way. So we don’t go much anyway.

We still see our friends at a distance.

Still, it’s not the same. No fun get togethers.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to daveh121

I have never had fun get togethers

I have never experienced as I hardly have any friends and my immediate family is overseas

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to Roukaya

Where do you live?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to daveh121

I live in U.K. by myself

I cared for my Father until he died and I have been trying to rebuild a new chapter

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to Roukaya

We are in California. Visited England a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

New chapters remind me of a leaf blowing in the wind. No idea where it will wind up.

I kind of felt very free waiting for the wind to blow us somewhere to a new chapter. Liberating and scary at the same time.

Easy to say but difficult to do.

Good on you for caring for your dad. Sorry for your loss.

We have my 98 year old mom a few hours away that my brothers and I watch out for. She seems to be holding up well.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to daveh121

Very interesting

I never thought of a new chapter of a leaf blowing in the mind

I should think of this when trying to find a years work experience

daveh121 profile image
daveh121 in reply to Roukaya

Something will turn up, always seems to.

It’s getting late here so good night to you. Hope you have a good day. Enjoy the morning.

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya

I really do not socialise either

I live a reclusive and lonely life

I have been trying to study and find employment for a few years and going out used to help my mental health and well being

in reply to Roukaya

Have you every thought about having a change of direction in your studies and learning something completely different Roukaya?

May38 profile image

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to May38

Were you happy in your job

This is the main thing

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to Roukaya

Very but Tesco are making me redundant been there 24 years while all this is going thinking about losing my job😞

in reply to May38

How old are you May, if you don’t mind me asking?

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

47 years young 😂

in reply to May38

You are young 🤗 I remember before I met my now husband I lived alone and I lost my job and I had to go and sign on the day before Christmas Eve. I was very worried how I would manage living on my own being unemployed but I managed on what benefits I received. You have to look on it as a new chapter in your life and not fear the change. X

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

I hope it’s a new chapter in my life could with some luck

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to May38

May be this is why you are unable to sleep

I think everyone has been impacted with the Pandemic be it financially or in terms of health

Life does force us to change

I have learnt nothing ever stays the same

If you have 24 years of retail experience you should eventually find another opening

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to Roukaya

Hopefully but it is all part time nowadays that’s why had to get the other job

Roukaya profile image

This has been advised but I would like to do Wills and Probate as I had studied law back in 2000 but did not get the training to qualify as a Solicitor

It is something which haunts me every day

I cared for a vulnerable adult and managed his Personal Estate and Business by myself and this is why ideally I would like to work in this area

But do to personal worries and anxiety issues this has impacted on my ability to pass the Diploma abs find a years work experience

in reply to Roukaya

Do you think that being a solicitor would make you happy and give you peace of mind?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya

I have given up the idea of being a Solicitor

My legal qualifications are too old

Thus is why I am studying for a Post Graduate Diploma in Wills and Probate which is a specialist qualification and to find a years work experience

To answer your question to become independent and my own person even though late at the age of fifty would do me a power of good

It would help with my sense of vocation and fulfillment

in reply to Roukaya

I think you are much stronger than you think Roukaya I have no doubts that you will achieve your goals ❤️

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to

These are very kind words

Before I go what makes you think I am stronger than I think and that I will make it

This is very positive advice

in reply to Roukaya

I think you have been though a lot caring for your father and your constant demands from your mother but still you get up every morning and carry on . That takes a lot of strength. You have the right attitude to achieve success

Sleep well Roukaya xx

I've had a very unsettled night; experienced what I can only describe as symptoms of food poisoning yesterday. Severe stomach cramps, dizziness, a general feeling of being run down. Gave up and fell asleep mid-afternoon yesterday, woke up at around 8 p.m. Awful night: one of those nights when you groan a lot. 😓 Still not feeling great. Today should be fun. 😞

TheDrivenSnow in reply to May38

My daughter came in to see me, and then I think I drifted off for a while.

I'll attempt a nap later. You're so kind ❣️

Did you manage to get some sleep in the end? 🛌

How are you feeling now? Is it this situation with the virus that's getting to you? 😷

It's all such a vicious circle, isn't it? We can't sleep, and that causes anxiety - and then the anxiety doesn't allow us to sleep!

We can't win 😞

xXx

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to TheDrivenSnow

I got and hour sleep downstairs the virus is getting me down your so right about anxiety no sleep makes it worse but can’t sleep because of it a least got a little hope you get some later

in reply to May38

😂🤣😂🤣 that made me laugh, I feel like what it must feel like to have a hang over! And I’ve never been drunk in my life!

Ah May38, Had I only known! I too was awake at that time, but spent my wakefulness with a nice hot cup of tea and some quiet music. What do you generally do to try to get back off again?

May38 profile image
May38 in reply to

Try a cup to get back off reading a little it’s the anxiety that’s seem to be getting worse at the moment I have just waked around the house a lot trying to calm down I am missing my work a lot did go on a dating Site last night as would like to meet someone not that I will be able to anything for a long while gave me something to do

in reply to May38

You need to look at the mature, free and single website, I used to do a blog for them. It’s a great website. I met my husband on there 🌹

Hi again May38,

Well, that was a good use of your time, and I with you the very best of luck with finding someone compatible, even if it has to be at sometime in the future! Tea's always good I think. All the experts say don't drink anything that's a stimulant but luckily for me a good hot strong cuppa has always relaxed me, not woken me up, so it's my usual go-to in wakeful hours. Hope you aren't feeling tired now after being up in the night! 🦋

Hi, there are sleep apps you can download for free that might be worth a look at. Maybe this might help also. nhs.uk/live-well/sleep-and-... 😊😊

I find that, having Intermittent Fasted for two years, and lost over five stone. I need less sleep.

I use the AutoSleep app, which often tells me I do not need to get to bed until 04:00!
