Spike Milligan -- though I am attracted as much to his poetry as his humour.

Activity2004 in reply to BrentW

What type of jokes does he do? :-)

BrentW profile image
BrentWArtist in reply to Activity2004

I don't think one could describe most British humour as being made of jokes. But I cannot think of any way to describe it. Spike was influential in his humour, being a precursor to Monty Python.

Nonsense poems, his humour was satire. My dad was a huge fan :)

Thank you for saying that about the poll, Alicia. I appreciate it. My 3 favorite comedians are: Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy and Margaret Cho.

What type of jokes did she do? :-)

in reply to Activity2004

You're welcome Leah. She would joke about herself quite a bit but I think it's best explained by this link, she was a British Comedian.

She was amazing and I like comedians who don't use swear words all their time to enhance their comedy, it's not needed. I also like Michael McIntyre, he's absolutely brilliant, I hope you can see the video below. If not, type his name into your search engine, he's a British Comedian.

Are we speaking of the same person, he has been dead for a number of years, his jibes against religion exactly like mine, may his god go with him!

Spotty-ewe profile image
Spotty-ewe in reply to Adlon57

It must have been a more recent recording we saw then because yes, he used to sit on a stool in the early 70s when I first saw him and he was hilarious. But the more recent one we saw only a few weeks ago he was older and the humour not as good as it had been. Hubby has just googled him and yes we see he died in 2005. I’m sorry to hear we’ve lost another of our great comedians. Thanks for pointing out my error.

I can laugh at myself, it's a good job with being accident prone!!! Even at our wedding , the men were in too hat and tails. We were at the point where the hats are thrown in the air and yes if course one had to hit me on the head!!! We thought it was my father in law who was oblivious as to what had happened. I voted George Carlin and Robin Williams. I would have to add Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder, Jonny English and Mr Bean. Plus his attempt at being Dr Who for a charity event. He did a song with Kate Bush as well. For stand up observational humour I adore Billy Connolly.

Do like Edie Murphy and Robin Williams, but my favourite is Jasper Carrott. Liked him enough to book and go to a live performance at a London Theatre. However never happened. We had a stage manager come out and ask us all to leave in an orderly fashion as there was a police notification of a bomb scare, everyone laughed and stayed where they were. Jasper came on to massive cheers, and said the same thing, all the audience laughed, I think it took 3 goes, before he could persuade us to leave. When outside, we realised it was true, loads of police, ambulances and fire engines about. Later thought he must have been brave, as I bet the Theatre personnel had tried to get him out straight away.
