I know someone who is interested in the planets. So I have learned them in the right order in the sun's orbit mercury , venus, earth, mars, jupiter , saturn , uranus. Also it got me thinking about the molten core of the planet and how magnetic north had shifted. So my theory about earth is that the axial tilt has shifted as well. Giving us more hotter and colder conditions. If you can imagine the earth is now showing more of it's surface face than ever before. So the tides will be greater as the magnetic pull of the moon sees more of earth. All this came about in my thinking after illuminating all other possibilities. Any astrophysisist' s out there. Much good will to you all. Amber

I am very inquisitive and love to learn and read about things that are new even if I can't participate if it's an activity.I have a picture with the words "remain curious" which sums me up and my friends think it's funny but that's me lol.

The biggest thing I like in a friend is honesty as I would rather be hurt with the truth then lies and trust without either there's no friendship.

I have many good friends but my true β€˜bestie’ is always there for me as I am for her. We have been friends now for over 58 years, seen each other through marriages and divorce. Her son was less than an hour old when she gave him to me as my wonderful Godson. I never had my own children but feel blessed to share my friend’s children and grandchildren. That is true friendship.

A good friend is someone I can ring at four in the morning, and, after they have loosed off some very rude words, will get out of bed to help me. I recall that when my husband died at about 1am, I waited until 6 am to let my friend in Scotland know (she was also a friend of his), she got on the next plane down to London. During that time I had dealt with the Death certificate, but she was there to help with all the rest, that is a friend.

The defining criteria for me is someone that is actively willing to be part of your life through the ups and downs. Someone that will celebrate your triumphs and successes. Also, compassionate enough to provide comfort, advice, help, a shoulder to cry on and is there through the difficult periods of life.

A true and valued friend is all of the above, will be there for you anytime of day or night, through thick and thin. Also is honest and trustworthy, I am lucky enough to have many close friends, we have been there for each other through thick and thin. A good friend is nonjudgmental, he or she will laugh/ cry with you, a shoulder to cry/lean on. I have lots of friends on here too. I didn't think that this would happen when I joined but it certainly did happen. I feel honoured to have such true and valued friends, we need friends as well as family. Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to glo42

Yes, a good friend always is there and will be willing to listen to all what you want to tell them-- even if it's something hard to say. Being honest is also very important. :-)

I think all of the above are good qualities in a friend but I selected the ones which are the most important to me. Top of the list always turns out to be loyalty for me. It's the dividing line between any old friend and the true, 'got your back' friend who sticks with you when the chips are down, defends you to the limit and forgives you when you did something wrong. This is a very rare sort of friend and when you find one, you are lucky indeed and should nurture the friendship and offer the same to your friend.

My best friend and I have sat together in a choir for about 20 years. We were practising to perform a very emotional piece music, and there was a line which made both of us cry in rehearsal, for both of us, upsetting and personal reasons. Clearly this would not do in a concert, so we marked our scores to say pinch each other when we reach the next line. We did this, and it hurt and we were composed. serene and well on note.

I cannot think of anyone else in the world I could have had this relationship with and untimate trust.

She collects me for a distanced walk each week, does all my shopping and is always positive and humorous.
