Mixed lettuce leaves with tomatoes
What dressing do you use for the salad?
ranch
That’s great to hear. I use Ranch for some of the salads that I eat now and then.😀👍🌈🥗
I love a good Ranch dressing Leah! 👍😊
watercress, mixed beans, avocado
This sounds really good and I love adding avocados to different salads.
yes, we buy frozen diced avocado and defrost two portions in the fridge and make an oil and balsamic vinegar dressing
Lettuce, watercress, cucumber and tomato
That sounds great! What do you add for a dressing?
I love pasta salads, would use hardboiled eggs, and tuna, few other things can I now eat, but would have added sweetcorn, and chopped tomatoes and peppers.
That sounds delicious! I had made a gluten free pasta salad with my mom to take for a block party a few years ago before COVID came and had leftovers after the party ended with the neighbors. My Niece may be able to help with a new gluten free pasta salad in the next few days if the weather cooperates later this week.
If I eat a salad it is just usually a plain cucumber salad or spinach salad. Nothing fancy. Something easy to make.
I eat salad tubs full of lettuce (various kinds), peppers, red onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and sweetcorn. Delicious on a roll with cheese.
That's great to hear. Is the roll like a sub/hoagie sized bun? Is it warmed up?
I have my salads on a normal brown or wholemeal roll at normal temperature. I’m vegetarian so I sometimes have Quorn chicken or ham flavour slices when I don’t have cheese. I find these to be very healthy lunch rolls.
I eat any salad
What do you like for toppings along with the salad dressing flavors?
Caesar
Parsley salad? Never had that. Sounds delicious!
Ham or prawn
Greek salad feta cheese x
Hi Leah
I voted tomato and cucumber but I only tend to eat salad when it's warm. I'm going to branch out a bit and add chickpeas and various other things including quinoa.🌈🙏👍
That sounds like a great plan for a dinner. I love chickpeas.
So do I Leah. I make a chickpea peanut bowl and it's delicious 😋😋
I will have to try that one soon!😀👍🌈🥗
It's gorgeous, so tasty. Here's the link
monashfodmap.com/recipe/veg...
I put the carrots in the oven first as they take longer to cook, around 15 minutes before the rest of the ingredients.😊😋🌈
Thank you, Alicia. I will have a look at this very soon tonight. Very thoughtful of you to post it.😀👍🌈🥗
You are most welcome Leah and it has to be one of my ultimate favourite dishes. 🌈👍😊
Caesar and mixed lettuce with fruit
They both sound delicious! What fruit do you add?
I really one like salad. I eat my veggies cooked or in soup but not raw.
Cheese, Pastrami, beetroot and pickled onions
Activity2004Hermes123, When the weather is right for salads, I will eat all types of salads ! spring onions, celery, little gem lettuce, sliced boiled egg, beetroot, crunchy pickled onions, slice ham off the bone. the combinations are endless. Hermes.
Baby spinache leaves, Kale, baby plum tomatoes, spring onions, grated carrots, coleslaw.
Mu kind of salad lots of healthy greens. I have kale growin in a pot on my deck
Do you warm up the kale? 😀👍🌈🥗
Not in salad, I choose the youngest leaves. I also use kale in a stir fry, with other vegetables. Then I chop it up. I eat very little meat, no beef or cured meat. My Daughter's husband gets young wild pigs from a rancher friend. They are very prolific and ruin the land for farming of all kind.
I eat grilled chicken Caesar salad, and chef salad without the egg.
Can't swallow after Meningitis & Stroke 14 years ago, have a P.EG.!
Organic field greens with walnuts
That’s a great salad! What dressing do you use for it?😀👍🌈🥗
Various dressings, such as balsamic vinegar with a good olive oil or low calorie raspberry vinagarete. Sometimes I put chick peas instead of walnuts or add a good crumbly cheese. I try not to get tired of the same old salad.
I like salads made with green leaf lettuce, spinach leaves, purple cabbage, shredded carrots and a dollop of ranch dressing. Sometimes i add cherry tomatoes.
That’s great to hear! I miss having cherry tomatoes for salads.😀👍🌈🥗
The ones they sell at my grocer are in a small plastic cup with a lid, natures candy lol. 😂💗
That’s fantastic!😀👍🌈🥗
I make a side salad most days which vary according to main course and what is available. I use avocado, tomato, both cherry and vine sliced, edamame beans, cos and gem lettuce, sweetcorn, carrot, and sliced peppers.in the summer I add fruit. My mum served salad every day and i think I just ‘took over’, these items are stock on my home delivery each time. I do not add dressings other than olive oil, and fresh lemon juice.
That's a great list for salads and add-ons/dressings. We have salad on the list weekly, but sometimes they can't give it to us because they don't have either salad in the store, or they don't want to give us a different one for the same price if the one we ordered isn't there that day/week. Same with a few other items we would really expect to be picking up.
Oh that is a shame, I would have to say I am getting all my order, tend to have the same each time , but cannot get greens such as broccoli for main course, and why have we run put of buttermilk?? Really ? don’t understand that one.I had a warning from my supermarket today that next week may not be able to meet all my needs however
My choice is Caesar salad. I might use a combination of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, olives, boiled eggs, diced ham, tuna, spinach, kale, cucumber, shredded cheese, snap peas, scallions and toped off with a little ranch dressing. we have garden every year so most comes from garden. Can not wait until spring planting starts.
What do you want to plant this Spring?
Hello Activity2004
I will be planting usual. Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, snap peas, egg plant, cantaloupe, squash and zucchini. I have annual scallions and rhubarb. The squash have been a mixed bag as we fight squash bugs for anything to eat.
A simple mixed green salad with scallions, radishes, celery and tomato is my go-to. I generally use either a honey balsamic dressing or ranch.
Avocado, goats cheese with smoked salmon.
Chicken and egg, makes it more filling, with plenty of sweet corn and beetroot too!
Tuna Nicoise or Chicken Ceasar
Two of my favorite salads to have with no croutons added.
I make my own GF croutons and keep them in the freezer so I can add a handful for crunch.
Apricot quinoa salad.
Which type of quinoa do you use for the salads?
Just the white quinoa.
That's good to hear. Thank you for letting me know.
I do like tomato and cucumber salads but either one or the other, and both items are those I only eat if they are properly ripened and preferably grown during the summer months. So I didn't vote for that. Nor Greek salad though I love that too when either eaten in a sunny climate or with feta cheese rather than chicken. The extra one we eat other than the list is quite a lot of Mexican salad.
Is the Mexican salad like the Southwestern salad?
I'm not sure what a southwestern salad looks or tastes like Leah, but it's quite possible it could be similar. I shall look it up! ' Mexican' is quite a broad term for us and the basic ingredients for making it 'Mexican' are corn kernels, diced sweet pepper and red beans, plus diced tomato and cucumber. Then seasoned with some salsa mixed into mayonnaise or a vinaigrette dressing. But then after that we turn it into 'Mexican' potato salad, rice salad or pasta salad. Or occasionally use cubes of cornbread too. So it's very versatile.
Southwestern salad sometimes has tortilla chips broken up and thrown in/mixed in to be like croutons. You also have corn and black beans and salsa.😀👍🌈🥗
Coronation chicken, also sliced roast chicken
I love a put lentil salad with cucumber, tomato and red onion with balsamic vinegar or french dressing 😋
I love my salad anytime of year but even more so in the summer. Great Survey.
A great way to promote healthy eating and to show it can be done.
I like, Tomato, cucumber, Lettuce, Radishes, Red Onion and Olives with a sprinkle of Sugar. With lemon and Olive Oil dressing.
This sounds really healthy and delicious for a salad. Do you have salad every day or once in a while each week?
I have salad 2-3 times a week. But I like a good stew this time of year with Neck of Lamb and as many veg and pulses that I can fit in to my 5 Litre cooking pot, I add to it as the week goes on and keep it going for a week. the rest of the week I have fish of any kind.
That’s fantastic to hear! The stew sounds really delicious! Do you have any pictures?😀👍🌈🥗
Do you make it into a sandwich or is it mixed in into a salad?
This all sounds really good and healthy to me!
Thank you for saying that about the poll. I appreciate that very much.
Tabbouleh. Chilled in the summer, room temperature now.
Baby spinach with avocado, onions, pepperdews, little tomatoes and cilantro dressing. I also like creamy dill potato salad with carrots and peas.
My favorite...iceberg lettuce, tomato & mayonnaise. Yum😊
Any fresh crisply lettuce, completely engulfed in blue cheese dressing, Marzettis makes the best blue cheese dressing! Oh, my apologies, we were supposed to talk about healthy foods... my bad.
I agree, as i cannot leave my house, I am dependent on my one delivery so am having to be inventive with most items now,
I love my salads, a great way to get adventurous by adding lots of color onto your plate. Half of my plate consists of salad and sometimes a whole plate depends on what I have with it. Salad goes with a lot of dishes.
Great Survey, a great way to promote healthy eating.
I looked up the southwestern salad Leah and it is very similar to our Mexican one in its purest state.
Thank you for letting me know that, Sue! I appreciate that very much.😀👍🌈🥗
Lettuce , boiled ham, Lancashire cheese, spring onion,
This sounds like a great idea for a salad. Lots of items with protein in them. What dressing do you use?😀👍🌈🥗
Salad cream
That’s good to hear! I will have a side salad with light Creamy Caesar dressing with my penne pasta casserole tonight.😀👍🌈🥗
