Every symptom imaginable, but the ulcers are the worst

I'm new here, and already finding it so helpful. Just the fact that there are other people who experience what I am, makes me feel so much less alone.

I have had migraines my entire life, mouth lesions, that I just thought were normal until now.... I was just diagnosed 3 months ago, when my genital Ulcers were so bad I thought I was dying. They lasted 4 weeks and I could barely walk to the bathroom. I was allergic to both topical creams, and am now on colchicine 3 times daily.

I also ended up with blisters, that turned to ulcers on my right thumb, popping up continuously for 2 weeks..... which is extremely confusing.. no where else on my hands. Now I have several scalp ones.

Its a scary disease to me, I'm living in fear of the next flare....I refused to go to the hospital last time, but should have been hospitalized for the genital Ulcers. That was scary for me. I have two little girls and they have learned to help me and take my down days well, lots of arts and crafts and schoolwork. (Little as in 8 and 10 years old)

Hoping to connect with someone in the US, I love all the stories and questions and tips that work for everyone, but I also am curious about help and familiar doctors in the states here, because I don't know anyone who understands me or what is happening here. I live in Dekalb, IL, near Chicago.

Thank you all, you are all amazing!!!

Hi Linus1983,

I'm in the US (Massachusetts) and I've had Behcet's since 1979. It sounds like you really need a good doctor to guide your treatment. I checked through my files, and another BD patient had told me about a rheumatologist that she loves in the Chicago area:

Dr Patrick Schuette at Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

She says: "This kind gentle man is my rheumatologist. So many posts are how our care is so lacking . He has gone to any lengths I ask (within reason). He cares and genuinely wants young or old to be well taken care of."

Hope that helps!

Joanne Z.
