I am experiencing extreme body fatigu... - Parkinson's New Z...
I am experiencing extreme body fatigue and the feeling of heaviness most days. Has anyone got ideas on how to alleviate this fatigue.
I find i have fatigue worse than others on some days. A good brand of multi vitamin or especially vitamin b seems to help a bit. CoQ10 can also help as does Krill oil or omega 3. Apart from this I just rest more and try to do some walking or light exercise. I lalso make sure i take my sinemet and ropinerole on time.
All i can suggest is rest moderate exercise and yoga
Hi
I also suffer from fatigue, and found I needed a Nana nap every afternoon. They changed my med's which has helped.
I take Sinemet TA 50MG+200MG CR 1 tablet 4 times daily ie. 7.00am, 11.00am 3.00pm and 8.00pm
They then gave me Sinemet Tablets 25MG + 100MG that I take once daily with my 11.00am dose. This doesn't seem to make me so tired / sleepy in the afternoon especially around 2.00pm. I find this doesage and even a short rest 3/4hr - 1-1/4hr helps. I was sleeping solid 2-3hrs every pm. which I no longer do. One of the side effects of Sinemet is depression so if you are taking Peroxidine / Loximine or similar as well these certainly complicate the balance. I walk everyday or every other day around 3 k's and find this helps (plus it's free) and are due to start Tai Chei in the New Year also.
You still have 'off' days for no apparent reason where no thing goes right or you are more tired than usual.
STRESS is a major affect, on your symtoms. And you and your family Must sit down and workout how to remove or minimise any stress you maybe having. ie Doctors, driving, trying to concerntrate on several things at once
I take each day as it comes and are claiming my life back. I was diagonised 4 years ago aged 53 with Parkinsons.
Thanks
Thank you for all your reply's. I have slowed down a lot and yes have started to rest. I guess I am fighting this, the fact that at 56ys I have to rest so much. I was diagnosed at 44yrs. I'm on Sinemet CR 200/50 and take it 6 x day. I have started to take Berroca multi vitamin and when I get really low and can not avoid to go out then I have been known to have a can of V. Its an energy drive. It sometimes helps. I find I don't enjoy alot of my previous interests because of the fatigue and so I'm not very accepting of the new me Especially when the old me lived live to the fullest and was probably on the hyper side. I do understand that I'm on this forced journey and have to accept the fact eventually but for now I am angry, tearful and pissed of with this beast called Parkinson's.
Thanks Jocelyn I will look into Q10 as an option to try.
I hear ya "D" !..... And i'm interested in how you get on.
Stu
hi, if you enjoyed your activities, carry on with them, & find a pace with which you are comfortable. This disease does make you angry but focus on what you enjoy & be positive.Apart from the parkinsons we all slow down so just enjoy what you can do, hope this helps a little.
Hang in there.. here I am up at 11.30pm reading this.... tired but not sleeping
dma i feel for you, lethargy is so debilitating. I have it a little but not as you describe but I do have a UK friend who struggles with this. It seems to be the most difficult symptom for some people. Another friend uses Modafinil. His initial report was glowing but havent heard since and don't know if its licensed in NZ
The tiredness and heavy body is ongoing. Specialist has suggested it may be caused by depression so at present visiting that angle.
Hi Thanks for all of your comments. Well the light has just gone on at the end of the tunnel. I was taken off all my antidepressants (by a specialist) and thought I was doing OK. Well I was not. Took a ride to hell and back and then a different doctor put me back on them. My heavy body symptoms have gone as well my dryness in my mouth has improved. I feel heaps better and with each week I improve. Still got the tiredness and have a bit of a rest on occasions but I can live with that. However the heaviness made me completely non functional and I couldn't handle it. So its been a bit of a journey. My neurologist in Auckland he said the heaviness was not a Parkinson symptom. It was he that suggested I had depression. Its very easy for us to jump to conclusions that our symptoms present as Parkinson's and easy to miss the bigger picture. I hope in some way my journey may help one of you. Keep your chins up
All the best
