I was examined by a neurologist this morning in the presence of a neurosurgeon.
During the exam, I was asked to stare for a long time at a fixed point on the wall in front of me. During that time, the neurologist told the neurosurgeon a couple of times: "did you see that one?" and one in particular "that was a big one, wasn't it"...
I asked him what it meant, but he wouldn't say. It worries me...
Does anyone have a clue what it means?

I would have stayed till I got an explanation. I am sure their comments were very upsetting especially since they did not explain anything to you. If your neurologist has a portal, I suggest you send him a message requesting an explanation for their comments. If not call and speak with a nurse explaining your concern. Keep asking nicely but firmly till you are satisfied.

I totally agree with wifeofparky! Don't allow the 'professionals' to treat you that way. It is a matter of self respect.
It is unacceptable for doctors to keep their patients in the dark. Also illegal not to inform the patient in most countries.call your doctor and insist on knowing what the heck they were talking about . What a stupid way to treat a patient Bubee

Are your eyes movement normal? Can you follow the doctor's fingers from left to right and right to left? Can you follow the doctor's finger moving it up and down? If yes, there is nothing to be concerned about.

There's got to be a reason for that staring at the fix point test... I am going to wait for a week or two and ask the hospital archives for that visit's report in my patient file.

Do you have balance problems and frequent falls? Do you have facial muscles pain? Are you photophobic (can't stand bright lights)?
Balance issues. No
Facial pain yes lately: face nerve pain, not muscle pain.
Photophobic, no.

Balance issues WITH FREQUENT FALLS? Second symptom is the distinctive one. If you don't have frequent falls, don't worry.
Check your symptoms on line for various neurodegenerative conditions so you have an idea of what it could be. However, many symptoms in neuro conditions overlap. Best that you ask your neurologist.

In a video on atypical parkinsonism, other conditions can affect the eyes, preventing normal eye motion. Can your eyes follow a hand horizontally but not vertically?

Nope. I have no clue. I hope my Sept appointement at Sonimodul can settle a definite diagnosis (and plan for FUS treatment!).
I hope I'm not being too nosy, but I assume you picked September in consultation with Dr. J as the best time to travel? Or, other factors?
My original assessment appointment was May 7. Our travel agency advised me about two weeks ago that my May flight was officially canceled. I contacted Sonimodul and changed my appointment to September. I just hope I can get a flight by then...
My own wild guess (good for today only) is that August and September will be the safest time to travel, because it will be in between the downward trend in new cases and before the beginning of the 2nd wave in October.
I hope you are right. Something that bothers me is that no travel insurance will cover medical bills if we get the Covid19 overseas which could represent thousands of $... My husband and I are reflecting on this.
"...travel insurance..." Some insurance companies allow for riders for overseas travel. My wife went to Norway last year and I thought she arranged to be covered by her regular insurance. I will find out.
Otherwise, the only way I can think of to deal with that is, if you have not already bought your tickets, is to schedule for short 3 or 4 day trip, so if you do catch it, you'll be home by the time symptoms show up.
I have permanent travel insurance by my last employer collective insurace plan (I am on permanent disability due to pd) and we now have a full permanent travel insurance since taking a certain credit card. The problem is they don't cover anything at all if traveling for a medical appointment. That goes for medical procedures, tests, doctor consultation , etc. It also excludes any claim re covid19 if book after March 2020. Checked with a major supplier to purchase a separate travel "all inclusive" plan; same restrictions apply... If we go, we're on our own.
