Failing pancreas has created T2 diabetes so I am eating more veg. I’ve cut back greatly on all meat. I also drink much more water than. I used to. All of these changes are to try and regulate diabetes but obviously help keep recurring pancreatitis away.
I have cut out red meats. and eat more vegetables. Also hardly any fats.
Low fat, no alcohol and gluten free (discovered had celiacs too).
I switching to vegan(from vegetarian), removed my fod map triggers, eat low sugar and low fat. Just eat porridge, baked potatoes and crackers and lots of water and decaf/herbal teas.
Reducing fats completely. Limiting alcohol to the minimum and not to eat after 8pm before going to bed
Limit fat to 15 grams per day. I eat only boneless, skinless chicken breast. No dairy, no oils not even for cooking.
its boring, ,when come to food, absolutely no spices or peppers, or nor pepper, in any of my diet, , the slightiest mistake i blow up like a beach ball😇, what make is worst i live oppo, a kFC and Dominos😇👍
I'm on a GJ tube using Kates Farm all natural, vegan, gluten free formula. It's helped me gain 3 pounds in 1&1/2 months. Eating is very painful, makes me vomit and the food goes into the Jejumun (, small intestine). It's better than nothing. 1st formal made my blood sugar super high, it was called Isosource. It has too high of a glycemic index for pancreatic patients. Still think this is not the exact formula for me but it's better than starving to death as I've acquired a fear of food due to pain, nausea and fear. Hope this helps someone struggling like me
Based on triggers for flares my total at percentages have come way down. If I break those rules the daily pain I have becomes much greater. I'm using Huel Fuel for some of my meals and it helps. You have to use the powder though. The premade bottles have about 18g of fat in them already. The power is much lower and the base is water.
I have always been on the threshold of diabetes, like my father was, I like the rest of my medical conditions have been unusual, I could not drink as I would puke up after about 2 pints, in 2014, so I gave up drinking alcohol altogether, then in 2018 I just started bringing up bits of my pancreas and blood, I could not eat solid food for a week, whilst in hospital, I was diagnosed with pancreatitis! I was later diagnosed with diabetes 2 in March 2020, I am a qualified cook so was able to form my own diet, by myself! I am not in any pain and absolutely loathe that vegan crap, I eat sensibly, vegetables, meat, no burgers sausages, yoghurt, fresh fruit, nuts etc. Any red meat is always low fat grilled!
I have eliminated fried foods and foods with high fat. I can no longer eat/drink dairy or soy. I can eat chicken and turkey breasts, and most fish, of course not fried. My fruits and vegetables need to be soft. Because of my 2 stomach surgeries and my small bowel obstruction, I need to eat low fiber foods.
I eat much more veg, white fish and chicken. Also less fatty food and fewer sweet things. I do cheat occasionally though because I love pizza so much.
My hero 🙌 Hahaha no but I am eating quite healthy and low fat (although after meeting with a dietician, discovered I can eat more fat than I previously thought). But I believe this is largely because I have little pain when eating (which I am extremely grateful for) and I want to respect those who experience terrible pain, you are truly in my thoughts ❤️
Hi there, believe it or not I just spoke for the first time to a dietician on Wednesday who told me exactly the same thing about being able to eat more fat. It's great that you don't get pain after you eat and I truly hope it stays that way! I do get pain after eating but I if I take pain meds an hour before I eat it's not bad pain. She is sending me some drinks to help me put on some weight, thank goodness cos I'm flipping freezing all the time being so thin. Thanks very much for your reply, I hope you're feeling well 😊
I’m SO glad that you got to see a dietician!! That’s great news. I feel like we’re all kind of told to cut fat across the board, which often isn’t realistic/healthy, at least for me because I exercise a lot.
I’m sorry to hear that you do experience pain when eating I imagine that must make eating not all that pleasurable sometimes. I really do wish you the best in adding more fat though, and with the weight gain as well!
And I’m doing ok, thanks. Definitely still coping with the trauma of this all, but I’m hopeful that it’ll gradually get better over time.
I hope to keep in touch, and sending much love ❤️
Thanks for your lovely response. You're right about this condition being quite a trauma. I'd love if you would stay in touch, thanks. Hope you're having nit too bad a day, best wishes and take care ❤
I’m glad (well, not happy of course) that you feel the same about the trauma aspect. The overlap between pancreatitis and mental health can’t be ignored. I hope you’re doing well too, thanks! ❤️
In general I eat mostly soft, low fat food to help control pancreatic pain.
Cut out red meat, less rice more vegetables. Low fat foods and more fruits.
Very bland diet. I also have a motility problem in my oesophagus so I tend to mash food up now (delightful 🙄). No spice, not even salt & pepper.
Diagnosed last Jan. Have discomfort and rapid satiation/bloating but no actual pain at this point. I was already using low fat dairy, vegetables, and limited red meat, basically no fried foods, and drinking 2-3 glasses wine/week. I also ate good size portions. Now my diet is dairy free, no red meat, no wine, and everything non or low fat. Simply can only eat small portions. I have lost 10lbs in 4 mths so keeping the calories up is a challenge. My throid medicine has been adjusted a little lower to help. Trying to drink a lot of water too. Eating applesacue every day cause I cant swallow pills and take the Creon emptied in the applesauce. For me, the concern is more about the small 5mm cyst found on my pancreas which is being very closely monitored by my doctors. If next scan shows growth we will have surgery to remove. My mom and sister both passed from PC. That is why I was having annual MRI's. My Endosopic Ultrasound diagnosed the pancreatitis. So, although pain is not the issue for me at this point, my mind set is something I have been praying about. I am neg for any genetic mutations, so this must be something environmental that struck my family. I have great support at work and with family so I feel very Blessed. This blog is very helpful and I plan to attend the nutrition webinar.
