Proton Beam

Hello, I don't know if it's possible to use for ovarian cancer but has anyone had proton beam therapy at all? Or if not directly on their ovaries for any spread of the disease?

Thank you

I am not sure about proton beam but a friend has had some thing I want to call micro blading but I think that’s an eyebrow tattoo 🤣…. anyway it’s like radiotherapy but more targeted. xx

Haha maybe they'll do a two for one deal. Come out with nicely shaped eyebrows and good looking ovaries ;-))).

They tend to use proton beams for hard to reach cancers or if they are colocated next to delicate structures. You might remember a case of a child with brain cancer where they sought help abroad after health services in the UK tried to stop them leaving and just palliative care as the care. They ended up being successfully treated abroad I believe.

They look to be offering it in the UK now (privately only I think!) but just wondered if that's an actual option for ovarian cancer if it leaves healthy tissue women may be able to retain their natural hormones/fertility (risk assessed). And if anyone else has explored this option? As potentially it may not be a option due to technical issues or poor success etc.

I'm not sure if that's the same? I saw on some US sites that they use proton beam for ovarian but seems less prominent in the UK. Christies looks to be the only NHS one at the moment and UCL I think is currently being built.
