eagerly read it only to find that Niraparib had been approved by the Regulator as biggest breakthrough in 30 years! some people have been on this for ages havent they, what are they talking about?

I thought exactly the same thing! Got all excited when saw the headline! Its been approved for use as maintenance after finishing frontline chemo I believe for brca negative aswell as positive.Was disappointed as I was expecting a new super drug had been announced.
Yes the article was very misleading. I tried Niraparib last year for 6 months but it did no good what so ever.
The report appears as news to create headlines. It actually means that the National institute of Clinical Excellence has approved it for use as treatment immediately after 1st line chemo. This means that if you are eligible, it had to be funded as NICE approval is intended to prevent post code prescribing where treatment can be refused if local funding deems it too expensive or not cost effective. I'm in my third month on a compassionate use basis. If this were not the case, NICE approval would have meant treatment would have to be funded. All very complex.
