Ultrasound for Ovarian Cancer and some symptoms to watch for

Hi everyone! I feel for those of you having problems getting diagnosed. I was told in 1985 that I had a virus for (2) months until a Doctor in May said let’s do an Ultrasound to see if it’s a problem pregnancy! I had never heard the word Ultrasound before and it actually found the masses that were the size of Grapefruits and had taken over both Ovaries. It’s something Doctors don’t like doing, but so easy and fast.

Symptoms for Ovarian Cancer can be:

Distended stomach, stomach size increases in the evening and you can look pregnant and feel pain and sore.

Unexplained weight gain - the books now say lose of weight, I gained almost 15lbs in a month!

There are no updated studies, it was not anywhere in my family and I have no cure.

You need not have had any issues or pain during your periods to get Ovarian Cancer.

Hope this helps some of you. I wish money would be used in the study of Ovarian Cancer but it just is not!

There are quite a few on going trials for OC. The majority of funding is directed at high grade serous cells as that is the most common. Thankfully that is starting to change with Clear cell, which accounts for 5% of cases, receiving funding too

Raising awareness to the fact it can’t be detected through screening so recognising change in your body is important.

Did you receive treatment?
