Hi Btte

I was on letrozole for ab. 15/18 months before it stopped working. It kept me stable for most of the time. I did have side effects but they were manageable without pain relief. What abt. a different hormone inhibitor for yourself?? I am now on Aromasin and all ok to date - 6 months on.

Thank you for your helpful comments, I am worried about stopping as the Letrozole does appear to be keeping me stable. Maybe a different drug will be kinder to me. Love Bridie

Hi Bridie. I’m on a three week break from Arimidex which is Anastrozole. My nurse referred to it as a drug holiday ! As I said in a previous post I had visions of me at the airport wearing dark shades and heading for Colombia !

I have just almost completed two weeks but I dont see much improvement in my painful arm. She said if it is proved that the Arimidex has caused the pain I can be changed to another Aromatase inhibitor. I’m not even sure that three weeks is enough to prove that . I am anxious that I continue taking some form as it was given to prevent a return of my BC and then realized that it’s also given to OC patients .

Apart from weight gain and the painful joints and fingers I dont have any other symptoms than I had already . I only take paracetamol for pain so I wonder if I could take ibuprofen. Will ask her that when my three weeks are up.

I just want to wish you well with your break and I hope they come up with a suitable one for you. I think that as we are all different we react differently and what might be good for one woman is poison for another . It may be just a question of trial and error.

Take care

Thanks Molly I can cope with the pain, it's the fatigue and listlessness everything I do is such an effort, just trying to improve the quality of life so we will keep putting that one foot in front of the other and hope they can find a drug that suits. Love Bridie

Hi Bridie

I have been permanently fatigued since I was first diagnosed and treated so I didn’t see that as an extra symptom. I have just tried to learn to live with it. It’s so hard to explain to other people that you wake up in the morning more exhausted than when you went to bed . I’m guessing that your fatigue started with the Anastrozole in which case hopefully they will find a replacement that eases it. I hope and pray they find a good one for you . Take care

Hi there, been on Letrozole for a year now, some still joints but if you exercise such a walking and take vitamin D3 plus K2 it really helps. Best wishes

I had terrible trouble for the first month on Letrozole - splitting headaches, blurred vision, dizziness and fainting. I felt I just could not go on last this. So I stopped for a month and then restarted, taking the tablet last thing at night. Much better, all previous symptoms gone. I do feel quite stiff and some tiredness but managing.
