Hi Bonnie,

If you are not happy,I would always get a second opinion.So many women are fobbed off with diagnosis of IBS and Diverticulisis,when it could be something else.

Only you know your body and if it is not as it should be you need to muster the strength to question what you are being told.

Hi Bonnie, my oncologist contacted a Dr O Donnell in St James to review my treatment. Apparently she is the lead gynae/oncologist in Ireland she might be of help to you hopefully.

Hi Bonnie

I had a second opinion this year in St James. As it happens it was Dr O' Donnell. She was absolutely lovely and explained everything very simply . It is so obvious that she is so enthusiastic about her subject. I liked her immediately. I learned more about my Cancer and although she just confirmed what my own oncologist has told me , I was still glad I went to her.

Your Oncologist will start the process once you decide to go ahead . They may request a formal written request for the second opinion. You will request a copy of your files and scans to be forwarded to St James to the Oncologist you have chosen. Although there was a delay in mine being transferred it should not take long. Scans for instance are transferred by computer so there is no manual transfer . You need to check if your hospital has that facility.
