Mom has CKD

My mom was just diagnosed with CKD she is stage 4 number is 20. She is calling for an appt with kidney specialist today. We have been researching diets for her condition and have started her on a much better diet for kidney function. She is scared. Is there hope for her? Can we slow down her spiral? she is 89. No heart issues after intensive tests in hospital, but has been on high blood pressure meds for several years. Poor digestion and very tired. Otherwise healthy and looks 60.
